FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is ZynPix really free to use?+

Yes. Both the Image Compressor and Image Resizer are completely free, with no signup, watermarks or usage limits.

Are my images uploaded to a server?+

No. All processing happens directly in your browser using JavaScript. Your images never leave your device.

Which image formats are supported?+

ZynPix supports JPG, PNG and WEBP for both compressing and resizing images.

Will compressing reduce image quality?+

You control the trade-off by setting a target size in KB — a higher target keeps more visual quality, while a lower target saves more space.

Can I compress or resize multiple images at once?+

Yes, the Image Compressor supports batch uploads so you can process several images in one go.

Step 2

Guide · Image Compressor

How image compression actually reduces file size

A photo straight off a phone camera can easily be 4-8MB, which is overkill for a website, a WhatsApp share, or a college application form with a strict size limit. Compression shrinks that file without throwing away the picture itself, by re-encoding the pixel data more efficiently.

Lossy vs lossless compression

JPEG compression is "lossy" — it groups similar-looking pixels together and discards detail the human eye barely notices, especially in smooth areas like sky or skin tones. PNG compression is "lossless" — it keeps every pixel exact, which is why PNGs of photographs are usually much larger than an equivalent JPEG. That's why our compressor lets you pick a quality level: lower quality means a smaller file but slightly softer detail in busy areas of the image.

What actually happens in your browser

When you drop a file into the compressor, it's decoded onto an HTML canvas, re-encoded at your chosen quality, and handed back to you as a new file — all inside your own browser tab. Nothing is uploaded to a server in the process, which is both faster and more private than most online compressors that quietly send your images off to be processed remotely.

Getting the best result

  • Start around 70-80% quality — most people can't tell the difference from the original at this range.
  • For photos with lots of fine texture (leaves, fabric, crowds), keep quality slightly higher than for simple graphics.
  • If a form asks for a file under a specific size like 200KB, compress in a couple of passes and check the output size after each one.

Compression works best on photographs; if you're compressing a screenshot with sharp text, consider our PNG-friendly settings or resizing the image down first, since smaller dimensions often shrink the file more than quality reduction alone.

FAQ

Image Compressor — frequently asked questions

Does compressing reduce image resolution?+

No, this tool reduces file size by adjusting compression internally to hit your target KB, not the pixel dimensions of your image. Use the Image Resizer if you also want to change dimensions.

How does the target size in KB work?+

Type or pick the file size you need — for example 200 KB for a form upload — and the tool automatically searches for the highest quality that still fits under that size.

Is there a limit to how many images I can compress?+

No. You can upload and compress as many images as you like, one at a time or in batches.

Do you store or see my uploaded images?+

Never. Compression runs locally in your browser using the Canvas API — your images are never transmitted anywhere.

Step 2

Set a new size

Enter exact pixel dimensions, scale by percentage, or choose a social media preset like Instagram Post or YouTube Thumbnail.

Step 3

Guide · Image Resizer

Choosing the right dimensions when resizing an image

Resizing changes the pixel dimensions of an image — how many pixels wide and tall it is — which is different from compression, which changes how efficiently those pixels are stored. You'll usually resize for a specific requirement: a profile picture that must be exactly 400x400px, a banner that needs to fit a fixed width, or a photo that's simply larger than any screen will ever display it.

Keeping the aspect ratio locked

If you type a new width without preserving the original ratio, the image will look stretched or squashed. Our resizer locks width and height together by default, so entering one dimension automatically calculates the other — you can unlock this if you deliberately need a non-standard shape, but for most everyday uses keeping it locked avoids distorted photos.

Upscaling vs downscaling

Making an image smaller (downscaling) is generally safe — you lose some detail but the result usually still looks sharp. Making an image larger (upscaling) is trickier: the tool has to invent new pixel information that wasn't there before, which is why an image stretched far beyond its original size often looks soft or blurry. If you need a much larger version of a small photo, treat the result as an approximation rather than a true high-resolution copy.

Common resize targets

  • Website hero images: usually 1600-1920px wide is enough, even for large monitors.
  • Social media profile photos: most platforms use somewhere between 320px and 800px square.
  • Form or document uploads: check the exact pixel requirement stated on the form rather than guessing.

Everything runs locally in your browser using canvas resampling, so your original file never leaves your device — you just download the resized version once you're happy with the preview.

FAQ

Image Resizer — frequently asked questions

Will resizing distort my image?+

Not if you keep "Maintain aspect ratio" checked, which scales width and height together so your image never looks stretched.

What are the common size presets for?+

They instantly set the correct dimensions for popular platforms like Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and YouTube, so you don't have to look them up.

Can I resize by percentage instead of pixels?+

Yes, switch to "Resize by Percentage" and drag the slider to scale your image up or down proportionally.

Is my image uploaded to a server?+

No, resizing is done locally using the HTML canvas element in your browser — your file never leaves your device.

Guide · Image Cropper

Cropping an image without losing what matters

Cropping removes the parts of an image you don't need, which is often more useful than resizing when the goal is to change what's shown rather than how large the file is — think cutting a person out of a group photo, tightening a screenshot around just the relevant part of a screen, or preparing an image for a fixed aspect-ratio slot like a square avatar.

Free-form crop vs fixed ratio

A free-form crop lets you drag the selection box to any shape, which is useful when you know exactly what you want to keep. A fixed-ratio crop — square (1:1), portrait (4:5), widescreen (16:9) — constrains the box to a specific proportion, which matters when the destination has a strict shape requirement, like an Instagram post or a passport-style photo slot.

Composition tips while cropping

  • Leave a little breathing room around a face or subject rather than cropping right up to the edge.
  • For text-heavy screenshots, crop a few pixels wider than the text block so nothing gets clipped.
  • Preview the crop at actual size before downloading — a selection that looks fine zoomed out can crop awkwardly at full resolution.

The crop preview and the final export both happen on-device using canvas, so you can try several crop positions and ratios before committing, and only the final cropped image is generated as a downloadable file — nothing is sent anywhere in between.

FAQ

Image Cropper — frequently asked questions

Can I crop to an exact aspect ratio?+

Yes, choose 1:1, 4:3, 16:9, 9:16 or 3:2 and the selection box will snap to and keep that ratio as you resize it.

Can I move the crop box after resizing it?+

Yes, click and drag anywhere inside the selection box to reposition it without changing its size.

What if I want to start over with a new image?+

Use "Start Over" to clear the current image completely, or "Reset Selection" to keep the image but reset the crop box.

Is my image uploaded to a server?+

No, cropping is done locally using the HTML canvas element in your browser — your file never leaves your device.

Guide · Image Format Converter

JPG, PNG, WebP — which image format should you use?

Not every format suits every situation. JPG is the default for photographs because it compresses well without an alpha (transparency) channel. PNG supports transparency and is lossless, which makes it the right choice for logos, icons, and screenshots with sharp edges and text. WebP is a newer format that often produces smaller files than both, at similar quality, and is now supported by virtually every modern browser.

When to convert to PNG

Convert to PNG when you need a transparent background — for example a logo that needs to sit on top of different colored sections of a website — or when the image has flat colors and hard edges, like a diagram or a chart, where PNG's lossless encoding avoids the blurring artifacts JPEG can introduce around text.

When to convert to JPG or WebP

For ordinary photographs meant for web pages, emails, or messaging apps, JPG remains the safest, most universally compatible choice. If your target platform accepts WebP — most modern websites and even many chat apps do — converting there usually gives a noticeably smaller file at the same visual quality, which matters on slower connections.

A quick decision guide

  • Photo for a website or social post → JPG or WebP.
  • Logo, icon, or image needing transparency → PNG.
  • Smallest possible file at good quality, and the platform supports it → WebP.

The converter reads the original file, re-encodes the pixel data into the target format, and lets you download the result — all inside your browser, without a round trip to any server.

FAQ

Image Converter — frequently asked questions

Which formats can I convert between?+

You can convert JPG, PNG and WEBP images into any of the other two formats.

Will converting to JPG lose transparency?+

Yes, JPG doesn't support transparency, so any transparent areas are filled with white. Use PNG or WEBP to keep transparency.

Can I convert many images at once?+

Yes, drop in as many images as you like — each one is converted and listed separately, ready to download.

Is my image uploaded to a server?+

No, conversion happens locally using the HTML canvas element in your browser — your files never leave your device.

Step 3

Guide · Background Remover

Getting a clean cut-out when removing a photo background

Removing a background turns the area around your subject transparent, so the image can be placed on any color, banner, or document — a common need for product photos, profile pictures, ID-style photos, and simple graphic design work where you want just the subject, not whatever was behind it.

What makes a background easy or hard to remove

A subject photographed against a plain, evenly lit background — a wall, a solid backdrop, or an overcast sky — is the easiest case, because there's a clear contrast between subject and background. Backgrounds with similar colors to the subject, motion blur, or wispy details like loose hair strands are harder, and the edge of the cut-out may need a manual touch-up afterward in an image editor.

Exporting the result correctly

Once the background is removed, always export as PNG rather than JPG — JPG doesn't support transparency, so saving in that format will fill the transparent area with a solid color (usually white) instead of keeping it see-through. If you need the cut-out on a specific colored background, add that background after exporting, either in the same session or in any basic photo editor.

Practical uses

  • Product photos for an online store, placed on a clean white or brand-colored background.
  • Profile pictures where you want just the person, without their original surroundings.
  • Quick graphic elements for presentations or thumbnails.

Processing happens directly in your browser, so the photo you upload is never sent to an external server for background removal.

FAQ

Remove Background — frequently asked questions

Is my image uploaded to a server?+

No. The AI model is downloaded once to your browser and every image is processed locally on your device — your photo never leaves your computer.

Why does the first image take longer?+

The first run downloads the AI model files, which are then cached by your browser. Every image after that processes much faster.

What file format is the result?+

The result is always a PNG with a transparent background, so you can place it over any color, photo or design.

What works best for this tool?+

Photos with a clear, well-lit subject — like people, products or animals — usually give the cleanest cutout.

Guide · JPG to PDF

Turning photos and scans into a single PDF

A lot of everyday paperwork — assignment submissions, ID proof, scanned forms — is expected as one PDF, even though what you actually have is a handful of photos taken on a phone. Converting JPGs to PDF solves exactly this: each image becomes a page in one document, in whatever order you choose.

Getting page order and orientation right

Before converting, arrange your images in the order you want them to appear as pages — most tools let you drag to reorder the thumbnails. Check that none of the photos are sideways or upside down; a phone photo taken at an angle will carry that same rotation into the PDF unless it's corrected first.

Page size and margins

Each image is placed onto a page, usually sized to A4 by default, either fitted to the page width or scaled to fill the page depending on the tool's settings. If your images have very different aspect ratios — one portrait, one landscape — expect some white space around the shorter dimension so nothing gets stretched out of proportion.

When this is the right tool

  • Submitting scanned assignment pages or handwritten notes as one file.
  • Combining multiple ID or document photos into a single upload.
  • Turning a set of receipts or bills into one shareable PDF.

The conversion happens entirely client-side — your photos are read, laid out as PDF pages, and packaged for download, without being uploaded anywhere in the process.

FAQ

JPG to PDF — frequently asked questions

Can I combine multiple photos into one PDF?+

Yes, every image you add becomes its own page in a single PDF file, in the order shown in the list.

What's the difference between "Fit to Image" and "A4"?+

"Fit to Image" makes each PDF page exactly the size of its photo. "A4" places each photo centered on a standard A4 page.

Can I change the order of the pages?+

Yes, use the up and down arrows next to each image in the list to reorder them before converting.

Is my image uploaded to a server?+

The PDF is assembled locally in your browser. A small PDF-creation library is loaded from a public CDN the first time you use this tool, but your images themselves are never uploaded anywhere.

Guide · PDF to JPG

Extracting images from a PDF document

Sometimes you need the opposite of a PDF — a single page or diagram as a plain image you can paste into a chat, a slide, or a document. Converting a PDF to JPG renders each page of the file as its own image, which you can then use anywhere a PDF wouldn't be accepted.

One image per page

A multi-page PDF converts into a matching set of images, one per page, which you can download individually or, depending on the tool, all at once. If you only need a single page from a longer document, look for an option to select just that page rather than converting the whole file.

Image quality and resolution

Because a PDF page is essentially a vector or high-resolution description of content rather than a fixed-size photo, the resulting JPG's sharpness depends on the resolution the conversion renders at. For text-heavy pages you want to zoom into later, choose a higher output resolution so the text stays crisp instead of turning blurry when enlarged.

Typical uses

  • Pulling a chart or diagram out of a report to drop into a presentation.
  • Sharing a single page of a form over WhatsApp instead of the whole PDF.
  • Getting a quick thumbnail preview of a document's contents.

The rendering happens in your browser using the PDF's own page data, so the file you convert is never uploaded to an external service.

FAQ

PDF to JPG — frequently asked questions

Does this work for multi-page PDFs?+

Yes, every page in the PDF is converted into its own JPG image, shown in a preview grid.

How good is the image quality?+

Pages are rendered at 2x resolution for crisp, high-quality JPG output suitable for sharing or printing.

Can I download only some pages?+

Step 3

Guide · PDF Merge

Combining multiple PDFs into one document, in the right order

Merging PDFs is one of those small tasks that comes up constantly — a resume plus a cover letter, several scanned chapters of notes, or a set of certificates that need to be submitted as a single file. Instead of installing desktop software, merging can be done entirely in the browser in a few seconds.

Getting the page order right

The order you add files in determines the order they appear in the final document, so it's worth double-checking the sequence before merging — most merge tools let you drag files up or down in the list to fix the order without having to re-upload anything.

What happens to bookmarks and formatting

A straightforward merge preserves each source PDF's pages exactly as they were — fonts, images, and layout stay untouched — it simply stitches the page sequences from each file together into one. Bookmarks or internal links specific to a single source file typically don't carry over automatically, since they were built around that file's own page numbers.

Where this is handy

  • Combining a resume, cover letter and certificates into a single application PDF.
  • Merging scanned pages of the same document that were scanned in separate batches.
  • Putting together multiple invoices or receipts into one file for records.

Everything is processed locally — the files you select are combined directly in your browser and the merged PDF is generated for you to download, without ever being sent to a server.

FAQ

PDF Merge — frequently asked questions

Will merging reduce the quality of my PDFs?+

No. Unlike image-based tools, PDF Merge copies each original page directly into the new file — text stays sharp and selectable, and images keep their original resolution.

How many PDF files can I combine at once?+

There's no fixed limit — add as many PDF files as you need, then reorder them before merging.

Can I change the order the files are combined in?+

Yes, use the up and down arrows next to each file in the list — the final PDF follows that exact order, top to bottom.

Are my PDF files uploaded to a server?+

No, merging happens locally in your browser using a PDF-editing library loaded from a public CDN — your files themselves are never uploaded anywhere.

Does this work with password-protected PDFs?+

Getting a PDF under a file size limit

Government portals, college admission forms and email attachments often cap upload size in KB or MB, and a PDF full of scanned pages or high-resolution images can blow past that limit fast. Compressing trades a little visual detail for a much smaller file, which is usually a fair trade for forms and documents that just need to stay readable.

How PDF compression works here

Each page is redrawn onto a canvas at a chosen resolution and re-saved as a JPEG inside a new PDF. Lower resolution and JPEG quality mean a smaller file; higher settings keep more detail but shrink the file less. That's why there are three levels to choose from instead of one fixed setting.

Choosing a compression level

  • Low compression — best for PDFs with photos or fine print where quality matters most.
  • Recommended — a balanced setting that works well for most scanned documents and forms.
  • High compression — best when you need the smallest possible file, such as for a strict upload size limit.

Everything runs locally in your browser using a PDF-rendering library loaded from a public CDN — your file is never uploaded to a server.

FAQ

PDF Compressor — frequently asked questions

Will compressing reduce text quality too?+

Yes — since each page is redrawn as an image, selectable text becomes part of that image and can't be copied afterwards. If you need to keep text selectable, use PDF Merge or the original file instead.

How much smaller will my PDF get?+

It depends on the original content — scanned or image-heavy PDFs shrink the most, while PDFs that are already small or mostly plain text may not shrink much further.

Is there a page or file size limit?+

No fixed limit is enforced, but very large PDFs take longer to process since everything runs on your own device.

Is my PDF uploaded to a server?+

No, compression happens locally in your browser using PDF-rendering libraries loaded from a public CDN — your file itself is never uploaded anywhere.

Does this work with password-protected PDFs?+

Not currently — please remove the password/encryption from a PDF first before compressing it here.

How to split a PDF

Step 1

Upload your PDF

Drag and drop a PDF file, or click to browse from your device — every page renders as a thumbnail.

Step 2

Choose what to extract

Tick individual page thumbnails, or type a range like 1-3,5,8-10 and hit Apply.

Step 3

Download the result

Use "Split Every Page" for a ZIP of single-page PDFs, or "Extract Selected Pages" for one PDF containing just your chosen pages.

Guide · PDF Split

Breaking a PDF apart without losing quality

Splitting a PDF comes up whenever a single file actually contains several separate documents — a scanned bundle of invoices, a report where only one chapter needs sharing, or a set of certificates bundled together by mistake. Doing this without desktop software just means pulling the exact pages you need back out of the original file.

Two ways to split

Splitting every page into its own file is useful when a scanner or bulk export has combined pages that were never meant to be together. Extracting a specific range is more common when only a portion of a longer document — a chapter, an appendix, a signed page — needs to be shared on its own.

What stays intact

Because pages are copied directly rather than rasterized, text stays selectable and searchable, and any images on the page keep their original resolution — the output pages are identical to the source, just regrouped into new files.

Where this is handy

  • Pulling a single signed page out of a longer contract to send on its own.
  • Separating a scanned batch of receipts or forms back into individual files.
  • Sharing one chapter of a report without sending the entire document.

Everything runs locally — the PDF you choose is read and split directly in your browser, and the result downloads straight to your device without ever touching a server.

FAQ

PDF Split — frequently asked questions

Can I split a PDF into individual pages?+

Yes, use "Split Every Page" to turn each page of the PDF into its own file, delivered as a single ZIP download.

Can I pull out just a few specific pages?+

Yes, tick the pages you want in the thumbnail grid, or type a range like 1-3,5,8-10, then use "Extract Selected Pages" to download them as one new PDF.

Will splitting affect the quality of my PDF?+

No, pages are copied directly from the original file, so text stays selectable and images keep their original resolution.

Is my PDF uploaded to a server?+

No, splitting happens locally in your browser using PDF-editing libraries loaded from a public CDN — your file is never uploaded anywhere.

Does this work with password-protected PDFs?+

Not currently — please remove the password/encryption from a PDF first before splitting it here.

What makes an invoice look professional

A clear invoice gets paid faster. At a minimum it needs your business details, the client's details, a unique invoice number, the date, an itemised list of what's being billed, and a total that's easy to find at a glance.

Invoice numbers

A simple sequential format like INV-0001, INV-0002 keeps records easy to search and matches what most accounting software expects, which matters if you ever need to reconcile books later.

GST for Indian freelancers and small businesses

If you're registered for GST, add your GSTIN and set the GST percentage — the tool automatically splits it into CGST and SGST for an intra-state bill when the currency is set to ₹.

Where this is handy

  • Freelancers and students billing clients for project work.
  • Small businesses that need a quick invoice without spreadsheet software.
  • One-off sales or service bills that need a proper paper trail.

Everything is calculated and rendered locally in your browser — nothing you type is sent to a server.

FAQ

Guide · Passport Photo Maker

What actually makes a passport photo get accepted

Passport and visa photo rejections are usually caused by a handful of repeat mistakes — wrong size, a background that isn't plain white, or a headshot that isn't cropped tightly enough — rather than the photo quality itself. Knowing the actual rules in advance saves a second trip to a photo studio.

Size and background rules

Indian passport photos are typically required at 2x2 inches (51x51mm) with a plain white or very light background, the face centered and looking straight at the camera, with a neutral expression and no shadows across the face. Different countries' visa photos sometimes use slightly different dimensions, so it's worth checking the exact requirement for wherever you're applying.

Common rejection reasons

  • Background isn't plain — shadows, patterns, or furniture visible behind the subject.
  • Face is too small or too large within the frame, instead of filling the specified proportion.
  • Photo is tinted, has a filter applied, or shows glare on glasses.
  • Head is tilted, or the expression isn't neutral as required.

How the tool helps

Our passport photo maker crops your photo to the correct official dimensions, helps you align the face within the required guides, and can standardize the background — so the finished photo matches the technical spec before you print or upload it, cutting down the chance of a rejection at the counter.

As with our other image tools, the cropping and resizing happens directly in your browser, so your photo isn't uploaded to generate the final result.

FAQ

Passport Photo Maker — frequently asked questions

Which passport photo size should I choose?+

Most Indian passport, visa and OCI applications use 3.5 × 4.5 cm. The US uses 2 × 2 inches. Always double-check the exact requirement of the office you're applying to before submitting.

What does the "Print Sheet" option do?+

It arranges as many copies of your cropped photo as will fit on a 4×6 inch or A4 page at 300 DPI, so you can print one sheet at a local photo shop and cut out the copies you need.

Will this remove my photo's background?+

No, this tool only crops and sizes your photo. If your photo has an unwanted background, use our Remove Background tool first, then bring the result back here.

Is my photo uploaded to a server?+

No, cropping and sheet generation happen locally using the HTML canvas element in your browser — your photo never leaves your device.

Step 3

Preview the watermark live, then download each photo individually or all at once.

Guide · Watermark Tool

Adding a watermark to protect or brand your images

A watermark is a visible mark — text or a logo — layered on top of an image, mainly used to discourage unauthorised use or to keep a brand visible when a photo is shared or reused elsewhere. Photographers, small businesses, and content creators use them most often on portfolio images and product photos.

Text watermark vs logo watermark

A text watermark is quick to add and works well for a simple copyright line or a website name across the bottom of an image. A logo watermark gives a more polished, branded look but needs a transparent PNG of the logo to place cleanly over the photo without a distracting white box behind it.

Placement and opacity

A watermark placed dead-center is the hardest to crop out, but it can be distracting for portfolio work where you want the photo itself to stand out. A corner placement at moderate opacity — visible enough to identify the source, but not overpowering the image — is the more common choice for most everyday sharing.

Quick tips

  • Keep opacity around 40-60% so the watermark is visible without dominating the photo.
  • Use a repeating diagonal watermark across the whole image if the goal is stronger protection against unauthorized reuse.
  • Match the watermark's font or logo style to your brand for a more consistent, professional look.

The watermark is drawn onto the image using canvas directly in your browser, so you can preview different positions and opacities before downloading the final version.

FAQ

Watermark Maker — frequently asked questions

Can I watermark multiple photos at once?+

Yes, upload as many photos as you like and the same watermark style is applied to every one. Use "Download All Watermarked" to save them all in one go.

What does "Tile" mode do?+

It repeats your watermark text diagonally across the entire photo, which makes it much harder for someone to crop the watermark out.

Will the watermark size scale with each photo?+

Yes, the size slider is a percentage of each photo's width, so the watermark stays proportional whether your photos are small or very large.

Is my photo uploaded to a server?+

No, the watermark is drawn locally using the HTML canvas element in your browser — your photos never leave your device.

Step 3

Download the PNG

Choose a transparent or white background and download your signature, ready to drop into any document.

Guide · Signature Tool

Making a digital signature you can reuse anywhere

A digital signature image is simply a picture of your signature — hand-drawn, typed, or scanned — saved as a file you can paste into documents instead of printing, signing and re-scanning paperwork every time.

Drawn vs typed vs uploaded

A drawn signature, made with a mouse, trackpad or touchscreen, looks the most personal but can be harder to get right without a stylus. A typed signature using a handwriting-style font is quick and consistent, and works well for informal use. An uploaded signature, from a photo of your signature on paper, keeps your actual handwriting and is the closest to a traditional pen-and-paper signature.

Why transparent background matters

A transparent PNG lets your signature sit cleanly on top of a form, contract or letterhead without a white box around it. If the document you're signing has a white background anyway, a white-background version works just as well and can be smaller in file size.

Quick tips

  • For an uploaded signature, sign in dark ink on plain white paper and photograph it in good, even light for the cleanest background removal.
  • Keep a drawn or typed signature simple — it's easier to reproduce consistently across documents.
  • Save a few versions (drawn, typed, and a scanned one) so you have the right style for different situations.

Everything here runs on the canvas element directly in your browser, so you can try each method and compare before downloading.

FAQ

Signature Maker — frequently asked questions

Is an online signature like this legally valid?+

In many countries a scanned or digitally drawn signature is accepted for everyday documents, but legal validity depends on your jurisdiction and the type of document. For contracts that need a certified digital signature, check with the receiving party or use a dedicated e-signing service.

Does the downloaded PNG have a transparent background?+

Yes, by default the signature is exported with a transparent background so you can drop it straight onto a PDF, Word document or image. You can switch to a white background before downloading if you prefer.

Is my signature uploaded to a server?+

No. Drawing, typing and image processing all happen locally on the canvas element in your browser — your signature never leaves your device.

Can I remove the background from a photo of my signature?+

Yes, use the Upload tab, add a photo of your signature on plain paper, and turn on background removal to make the white paper transparent, leaving just the ink.

No, the builder generates the preview and PDF entirely in your browser — your details aren't uploaded to a server unless you choose to save them for later.

Is the downloaded resume really free, no watermark?+

Yes, downloading your resume as a PDF is completely free with no watermark added.

It checks whether key sections — like a summary, quantified achievements, and contact details — are filled in, and shows tips underneath for what to add next to improve it.

Can I switch templates after I've started filling in my details?+

Yes, your entered details carry over automatically if you switch between the Modern, Minimal, Professional, Creative, or Compact templates.

    Guide · Resume Maker

Building a resume that actually gets read

Most recruiters and hiring managers spend only a few seconds scanning a resume before deciding whether to read further, which means structure and clarity matter as much as the content itself. A clean, well-organized resume built from a proven template gets noticed faster than a cluttered one, even with similar experience listed.

    What belongs at the top

Your name, contact details, and a short summary or objective line should be immediately visible without scrolling. If you're a student or early in your career, put your education and any relevant projects or internships near the top; if you have several years of experience, lead with your most recent and relevant roles instead.

    Formatting choices that matter

    • Stick to one or two fonts and consistent heading sizes throughout the document.
    • Use bullet points for responsibilities and achievements rather than long paragraphs.
    • Keep it to one page unless you have extensive, directly relevant experience that genuinely needs more space.
    • Quantify achievements where possible — numbers stand out far more than general descriptions.

    Before you export

Proofread carefully for typos and inconsistent tense (mixing "managed" with "manage" across bullet points is a common slip), and double check that your contact information is current before generating the final PDF or document.

Our resume maker fills a proven layout with your details as you type, so you can preview the finished look and download it directly, without needing any design software.

Generate a QR Code in Seconds

Turn any link, text, or Wi-Fi login into a scannable QR code. Customise the colours and download it as a high-resolution PNG — free, and entirely in your browser.

    FAQ

QR Code Generator — frequently asked questions

Is my link or Wi-Fi password sent to a server?+

No, the QR code is generated entirely in your browser — whatever text, link, or Wi-Fi details you enter never leave your device.

What is error correction, and which level should I pick?+

It's built-in redundancy that lets a QR code still scan even if part of it is smudged or covered. Medium is a good default; use High if you plan to add a logo on top.

Can I change the colours of the QR code?+

Yes, you can set both the QR colour and the background colour, just keep enough contrast between them so scanners can read it reliably.

What format can I download the QR code in?+

You can download it as a high-resolution PNG at the size you set with the slider.

    Guide · QR Code Generator

What goes into a QR code, and how to make one that scans reliably

A QR code is just a compact, machine-readable way of storing text — a URL, a phone number, a WiFi password, contact details — as a pattern of black and white squares that any phone camera can decode instantly. Generating one takes seconds, but a few small choices affect how reliably it scans in the real world.

    What you can encode

Beyond a plain website link, QR codes can hold plain text, an email address, a phone number that opens the dialer, or WiFi credentials that connect a phone automatically when scanned — useful for a café's guest network or an event's registration link printed on a poster or business card.

    Keeping it scannable

    • Leave a quiet, empty margin around the code — cropping too close to the edge can break scanning.
    • Print or display it large enough that a phone camera from a normal distance can resolve the individual squares.
    • Test the code with more than one phone before printing it in bulk on posters or packaging.
    • Avoid stretching the code non-uniformly — keep it perfectly square.

    A note on error correction

QR codes include built-in redundancy, which is why a code can still scan even if part of it is smudged, covered by a small logo, or slightly damaged — up to a point. It's still worth testing after printing rather than assuming it'll work purely because it looked fine on screen.

The generator builds the code directly in your browser from whatever text you enter, so you can download it as an image immediately without any account or server round-trip.

    FAQ

Image to Text (OCR) — frequently asked questions

Is my image uploaded to a server for text recognition?+

No, the OCR engine runs on-device in your browser — your image is never sent to an external server for processing.

    Which languages are supported?+

You can extract English, Hindi, or a mix of English and Hindi text in the same image.

    Can it read handwriting?+

Printed text works best. Handwriting is far harder for OCR to recognise accurately and results will vary a lot depending on legibility.

Why is some of the extracted text wrong?+

Accuracy depends on image quality — blur, poor lighting, an angled photo, or low resolution all increase recognition errors. Always proofread the result before using it.

Guide · Image to Text (OCR)

How OCR turns a photo of text into text you can copy

Optical Character Recognition (OCR) analyses the shapes in an image and matches them against known letterforms to reconstruct the actual text, so a photo of a printed page, a screenshot, or a scanned document becomes editable, searchable, copy-pasteable text instead of just a picture.

    What makes OCR accurate

Accuracy depends heavily on image quality: clear, well-lit, non-blurry photos with the text roughly horizontal give the best results. Handwriting is far harder for OCR than printed text, and low-resolution or heavily compressed images tend to introduce recognition errors, especially with small font sizes.

    Improving your results

    • Photograph the page straight-on rather than at an angle, to avoid distorted, curved text lines.
    • Make sure the lighting is even, without strong shadows falling across part of the text.
    • Crop out irrelevant background before running OCR, so the tool focuses only on the text region.
    • Always proofread the extracted text — even good OCR occasionally confuses similar-looking characters like 0/O or 1/l.

    Common uses

People use image-to-text to pull quotes out of a photographed book page, digitize a printed form, extract text from a screenshot of an error message, or turn a whiteboard photo from a meeting into notes they can actually search and edit later.

The recognition runs directly in your browser using an on-device OCR engine, so the image you upload for text extraction isn't sent to an external server.

    Guide · Scientific Calculator

Getting comfortable with a scientific calculator beyond basic arithmetic

A scientific calculator adds trigonometric functions, logarithms, exponents, and often memory storage on top of the four basic operations, which covers most of what's needed for school and college-level maths, physics, and engineering coursework without switching to specialised software.

    Order of operations still applies

Just like on paper, a scientific calculator follows standard mathematical order of operations (brackets, exponents, multiplication and division, then addition and subtraction). When a calculation gives an unexpected result, the most common cause is missing or misplaced brackets rather than a calculator error — grouping terms explicitly avoids ambiguity.

    Degrees vs radians

Trigonometric functions behave completely differently depending on whether the calculator is set to degrees or radians — sin(30) in degree mode gives 0.5, but sin(30) in radian mode gives a very different number. If a trig answer looks obviously wrong, checking the angle mode is usually the first thing to fix.

    A few practical tips

    • Use memory functions to store an intermediate result rather than re-typing a long number.
    • Double check the angle mode before starting any trigonometry problem.
    • For very large or very small numbers, scientific notation keeps the display readable and avoids rounding confusion.

Our calculator runs entirely in the browser, keeping a visible history of your recent calculations so you can retrace a multi-step problem without losing earlier results.

    FAQ

Scientific Calculator — frequently asked questions

What's the difference between DEG and RAD?+

DEG treats trigonometric inputs as degrees (0–360), while RAD treats them as radians (0–2π). Most everyday calculations use degrees.

What does log and ln calculate?+

log gives the base-10 logarithm and ln gives the natural logarithm (base e) of the number that follows.

Can I use brackets for order of operations?+

Yes, use ( and ) to group parts of your expression exactly as you would on paper — any unclosed brackets are closed automatically when you press equals.

Is my calculation sent to a server?+

No, every calculation runs locally in your browser using JavaScript — nothing is ever transmitted anywhere.

    Guide · BMI Calculator

What BMI actually measures — and what it doesn't

Body Mass Index (BMI) is a simple ratio of weight to height, calculated as weight in kilograms divided by height in metres squared. It's widely used as a quick population-level screening number because it only needs two easy-to-measure inputs, but it's worth understanding exactly what it can and can't tell you about an individual.

    The standard BMI categories

Most health guidelines place a BMI under 18.5 as underweight, 18.5-24.9 as a normal range, 25-29.9 as overweight, and 30 and above as obese, though some Asian population guidelines use slightly lower cutoffs given differences in average body composition at a given BMI.

    Why BMI has limits

BMI doesn't distinguish between muscle and fat, so a very muscular person can show a high BMI while carrying very little body fat, and it doesn't account for where fat is distributed on the body, which some research considers more relevant to health risk than the overall number alone.

    Using the number sensibly

    • Treat BMI as one general indicator, not a complete health assessment.
    • Track the trend over time rather than reacting to a single reading.
    • If BMI falls outside the typical range, a doctor can put it in context alongside other measurements.

This tool is meant for a quick, informational estimate and isn't a substitute for medical advice — if you have concerns about your weight or health, it's worth discussing with a doctor who can look at the full picture.

    FAQ

BMI Calculator — frequently asked questions

    How is BMI calculated?+

BMI is your weight in kilograms divided by the square of your height in metres. For imperial inputs, we convert feet, inches and pounds to metric first.

    What are the BMI ranges?+

Under 18.5 is underweight, 18.5–24.9 is a normal range, 25–29.9 is overweight, and 30 and above is considered obese, per standard WHO reference ranges.

    Is BMI accurate for everyone?+

BMI is a quick general screening tool and doesn't distinguish muscle from fat, so it can be less accurate for athletes, older adults, or during pregnancy. It's not a diagnosis.

    Is my data stored anywhere?+

No, the calculation happens entirely in your browser and nothing you enter is uploaded or saved.

How do I also see my BMR and calorie needs?+

Select your gender, enter your age and pick an activity level before calculating — your BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate) and estimated daily maintenance calories will appear below your BMI result, using the Mifflin-St Jeor formula.

An EMI (Equated Monthly Instalment) is a fixed amount you pay every month toward a loan, combining both principal repayment and interest, calculated so that the entire loan is paid off in equal instalments over the agreed tenure. The formula factors in the loan amount, the annual interest rate, and the number of months in the tenure.

Why early instalments are mostly interest

In the early months of a loan, a larger share of each EMI goes toward interest and only a small portion toward reducing the actual principal — this shifts gradually over the loan's life, with later instalments paying down more principal and less interest. This is why closing a loan early can save meaningfully more interest than it might first appear to.

    What changes your EMI amount

    • A longer tenure lowers the monthly EMI but increases the total interest paid over the life of the loan.
    • A higher interest rate increases the EMI for the same loan amount and tenure.
    • A larger down payment reduces the loan principal, which reduces both the EMI and the total interest.

Using the calculator to compare offers

When comparing loan offers from different lenders, run the same loan amount and tenure through the calculator for each interest rate on offer — a difference of even half a percentage point in rate can add up to a noticeable amount over a multi-year tenure, so it's worth comparing the total interest, not just the EMI figure.

Enter the loan amount, interest rate, and tenure, and the calculator instantly shows your monthly EMI along with the total interest and total amount payable over the loan's life.

    FAQ

Loan / EMI Calculator — frequently asked questions

    How is EMI calculated?+

We use the standard reducing-balance formula: EMI = P × r × (1+r)ⁿ / ((1+r)ⁿ − 1), where P is the principal, r is the monthly interest rate, and n is the number of monthly instalments.

Does this include processing fees or insurance?+

No, this calculates interest and principal only. Your lender may add processing fees, insurance or other charges on top, so check your loan agreement for the exact figure.

Can I enter tenure in months instead of years?+

Yes, switch the tenure unit to Months if that's how your loan term is quoted.

Adding or removing GST from an amount, without the confusion

GST (Goods and Services Tax) is applied in India at rates that commonly include 5%, 12%, 18%, and 28% depending on the category of goods or services. The confusion most people run into isn't the tax rate itself, but whether they need to add GST on top of a price or extract it from a price that already includes tax.

Adding GST to a base amount

If you have a base price before tax, adding GST is straightforward: multiply the base amount by the GST rate and add that to the original price. For example, an 18% GST on a base amount of ₹1,000 adds ₹180, making the final price ₹1,180.

Removing GST from a total amount

This is where people most often make an error — you can't simply subtract the tax percentage from the total, because the percentage was calculated on the base amount, not the total. To find the original base amount from a GST-inclusive total, divide the total by (1 + GST rate as a decimal). For a ₹1,180 total at 18% GST, that's 1180 ÷ 1.18, giving back the original ₹1,000 base.

    CGST vs SGST vs IGST

    • CGST and SGST apply in equal halves for transactions within the same state (e.g. 9% + 9% for an 18% rate).
    • IGST applies as a single combined rate for transactions between two different states.

Our calculator handles both directions — adding GST to a base price, or extracting it from a GST-inclusive total — and shows the CGST/SGST or IGST split automatically.

    FAQ

GST Calculator — frequently asked questions

What's the difference between Add GST and Remove GST?+

Add GST takes a tax-exclusive amount and adds GST on top to get the final price. Remove GST takes a tax-inclusive amount (the final price you already paid) and works backwards to find the original amount and the tax hidden inside it.

    What are CGST and SGST?+

For sales within the same state, GST is split equally into CGST (paid to the central government) and SGST (paid to the state government). Each is exactly half of the total GST rate.

    What about IGST?+

IGST applies to inter-state sales instead of CGST + SGST. The total tax amount is the same either way — only how it's split changes.

Which GST rate should I use?+

India's common GST slabs are 5%, 12%, 18% and 28%, depending on the goods or service. Check your invoice or the official GST rate schedule if you're unsure, or enter a custom rate.

Guide · Word ↔ PDF Converter

Converting between Word and PDF without breaking the formatting

PDF and Word (.docx) serve different purposes — Word is meant to be edited, PDF is meant to look identical everywhere it's opened. Converting between them is common: a report drafted in Word needs to be shared as a fixed PDF, or a PDF form needs its text edited back in Word.

Word to PDF: what stays intact

Converting from Word to PDF generally preserves fonts, layout, images and page breaks exactly as they appeared in the original document, which is exactly why PDF is the standard format for sharing a finished document — the recipient sees the same layout you designed, regardless of what software or device they're using to open it.

PDF to Word: what to expect

Converting the other way is more variable, because a PDF doesn't inherently store the same kind of structured, editable text and layout information that a Word document does. Simple, mostly-text PDFs convert cleanly into an editable document; PDFs with complex multi-column layouts, tables, or scanned images may need some manual formatting clean-up afterward.

    A few tips

    • For a document you plan to keep editing, keep the original Word file and only convert to PDF for the final shared version.
    • If converting a scanned PDF, check whether the text was extracted correctly — a purely scanned image page has no underlying text to convert until OCR is applied first.
    • Always review the converted file before sending it onward, especially tables and multi-column sections.
    FAQ

Word to PDF Converter — frequently asked questions

Is my document uploaded to a server?+

No. Both directions run entirely in your browser — a small conversion library is loaded from a public CDN the first time you use this tool, but your file itself is never uploaded anywhere.

Will my formatting stay exactly the same?+

Word to PDF keeps headings, paragraphs, lists and basic formatting intact. PDF to Word extracts the text content of each page — complex layouts, multi-column pages, tables and images may not carry over exactly, since PDFs don't store text the same way Word does.

What file type do I get from PDF to Word?+

You get a .doc file that opens directly in Microsoft Word, Google Docs or LibreOffice, with your original page breaks preserved so you can keep editing.

Does this work with .doc (older Word format) files?+

Word to PDF is built for modern .docx files. If you have an older .doc file, open and re-save it as .docx in Word first for the best result.

Is there a file size limit?+

No fixed limit is enforced, but very large documents take longer to process since everything runs on your own device's processing power.

    Guide · Markdown Converter

    Why convert to Markdown?

Markdown is the plain-text formatting language behind READMEs, wikis, note-taking apps and most AI chat tools. Converting a document into Markdown strips away proprietary formatting while keeping headings, lists and tables readable as plain text — making the content easy to paste into a chat, a static site, or a notes app.

    What each format gives you

    • PDF — the readable text is extracted page by page, with paragraph breaks preserved as closely as the PDF's structure allows.
    • Word (.docx) — headings, bold/italic text, lists and links carry over from the document's own formatting.
    • Excel (.xlsx / .xls) — each sheet becomes a Markdown table, so rows and columns stay aligned.
    • PowerPoint (.pptx) — each slide's text becomes its own heading and bullet list.
    • YouTube — the title, channel name and description are pulled in as a short Markdown snippet with a link back to the video.

    A few tips

    • Scanned PDFs (photos of text with no underlying text layer) won't extract cleanly — try the Image to Text tool first.
    • Complex layouts, multi-column pages, and heavily nested tables may need a quick manual clean-up afterward.
    • Always double-check the output before pasting it somewhere important.
    FAQ

Markdown Converter — frequently asked questions

Is my file uploaded to a server?+

No. Everything runs in your browser — small conversion libraries load from a public CDN the first time you use each format, but your file itself is never uploaded anywhere.

    Can this pull a YouTube video's transcript?+

Not currently — transcript extraction needs a server-side connection that a purely browser-based tool doesn't have. This tool fetches the title, channel name and description instead.

Will tables and formatting come through cleanly?+

Word documents and Excel sheets convert with headings, lists and tables intact in most cases. PDFs vary more — simple, mostly-text PDFs convert cleanly, while complex multi-column layouts may need manual clean-up.

What about older .doc, .ppt or .xls files?+

This tool is built for the modern .docx and .pptx formats, and reads both .xls and .xlsx for spreadsheets. For an older .doc or .ppt file, re-save it in the modern format first for the best result.

Is there a file size limit?+

No fixed limit is enforced, but very large files take longer to process since everything runs on your own device's processing power.

    Guide · CTC Calculator

CTC vs in-hand salary — understanding what actually lands in your account

CTC (Cost to Company) is the total amount a company spends on an employee annually, and it's usually a bigger number than what actually shows up as take-home pay every month. The gap between the two is made up of several components that don't arrive as cash in your bank account.

What's included in CTC but not in-hand pay

    • Employer's contribution to Provident Fund (PF), which goes into a retirement account rather than your salary account.
    • Gratuity, which is only paid out under specific conditions, typically after a minimum number of years of service.
    • Insurance premiums the company pays on your behalf, such as health or life insurance cover.
    • Other benefits like meal vouchers or reimbursement allowances, which may only be usable for specific categories of spend.

What actually reduces in-hand pay further

On top of the CTC-to-in-hand gap, income tax and your own PF contribution are deducted from what would otherwise be your monthly cash salary, which is why the number in an offer letter can feel noticeably larger than what actually reaches your account each month.

Why this matters when comparing offers

Two offers with the same CTC can result in quite different monthly take-home pay, depending on how much of that CTC is structured as fixed cash salary versus benefits, bonuses, and employer contributions. When comparing job offers, it's worth breaking down the full CTC structure rather than comparing the headline number alone.

Enter your CTC and its components, and the calculator breaks down your likely monthly in-hand salary after typical deductions.

    FAQ

CTC Calculator — frequently asked questions

What is CTC and why is it different from in-hand salary?+

CTC (Cost to Company) is the total yearly cost your employer bears for you — it includes your basic pay plus employer contributions like PF and gratuity that you don't receive as cash every month. In-hand salary is what actually lands in your bank account after these and other deductions.

How is Basic pay usually decided?+

Most Indian companies set Basic pay between 35% and 50% of CTC, commonly around 40%. It varies by company policy, so check your salary structure or offer letter for the exact figure.

What are PF and gratuity, and why are they subtracted from CTC?+

Employer PF (12% of Basic) and gratuity (about 4.81% of Basic) are part of your CTC but aren't paid out monthly — PF builds up in your retirement account and gratuity is paid only when you leave after a qualifying period, so both reduce your monthly gross even though they're technically "your" money.

How is the income tax estimated?+

This tool uses the new tax regime slabs for FY 2025-26 (0% up to ₹4 lakh, then 5%/10%/15%/20%/25% up to ₹24 lakh and 30% above), a ₹75,000 standard deduction, the Section 87A rebate that makes income up to ₹12 lakh tax-free, and 4% health & education cess. It doesn't account for the old regime, HRA exemption, or other deductions, so treat it as a rough guide only.

SGPA and CGPA — the credit-weighted maths behind your grade point average

SGPA reflects how you did in a single semester, calculated from the credits and grade points of each subject you took that term. CGPA rolls every completed semester's SGPA together into one cumulative number, weighted by how many total credits each semester carried.

Why credits matter more than a simple average

A semester with heavier subjects (more total credits) pulls your CGPA toward its SGPA more strongly than a lighter semester does. This is why simply averaging your semester SGPAs together, without accounting for credit differences, can give a noticeably different — and often incorrect — CGPA compared to the properly credit-weighted calculation.

    The formula in plain terms

Multiply each semester's SGPA by that semester's total credits, add all of those products together, then divide by the sum of all the credits across every semester. The result is your CGPA — automatically weighted so heavier semesters count proportionally more.

    Where students get tripped up

    • Assuming all semesters carry the same credits, when in fact many colleges vary credit load year to year.
    • Using the wrong grade-point scale for a subject that was audited or graded on a different system.
    • Forgetting to include a semester where a backlog subject was later cleared and its SGPA recalculated.

Enter each semester's SGPA and credits, and the calculator applies the correct credit-weighted formula automatically, so you don't have to do the multiplication and division by hand every semester.

    FAQ

SGPA & CGPA Calculator — frequently asked questions

What is the difference between SGPA and CGPA?+

SGPA (Semester Grade Point Average) reflects your performance in a single semester. CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) is the credit-weighted average of your SGPAs across all completed semesters.

What grade points does this use?+

    This tool uses the common 10-point scale followed by most Indian engineering colleges: O = 10, A+ = 9, A = 8, B+ = 7, B = 6, C = 5, D = 4, F = 0. Check your own university's grading scheme if it differs.

How is the percentage calculated from CGPA?+

We use the widely used approximation Percentage = (CGPA − 0.75) × 10. Many universities use this exact formula, but some use their own conversion, so always confirm with your institution for official purposes.

Can I use this for any engineering branch?+

Yes, the calculation is the same for CSE, ECE, Mechanical, Civil or any other branch — only the credits and grades you enter will differ.

    Guide · Attendance Calculator

The maths behind the 75% attendance rule, explained

Most Indian colleges require a minimum attendance percentage, commonly 75%, before a student is allowed to sit for semester exams. The rule itself is simple, but the maths behind "how many classes can I still miss" or "how many do I need to attend" trips a lot of students up, mainly because the total number of classes keeps growing as the semester continues.

    Why the numbers keep shifting

Attendance percentage is always classes attended divided by total classes held so far — and both numbers change every single day new classes happen. This is exactly why "I can skip 5 more classes" calculated today might not hold true two weeks from now, once more classes have been added to the total.

How many classes you can safely skip

To stay at or above your target percentage while skipping future classes, the calculation accounts for the fact that every class you skip also increases the total class count, working out the maximum number of upcoming misses your current attendance can absorb before dropping below target.

How many classes you must attend to recover

If you're currently below your target, recovering isn't just a matter of attending every class from here on — it can take several consecutive classes attended before the percentage climbs back to target, since each new class attended raises both the numerator and the total, slowing down how fast the percentage moves.

    • Recalculate regularly through the semester rather than relying on a number from weeks ago.
    • Check your specific college's attendance policy — some allow a slightly different cutoff or medical exemptions.
    • Treat a calculated "safe to skip" number as a buffer, not a target to use up entirely.

Enter your total classes, classes attended, and target percentage, and the calculator instantly shows where you stand along with exactly how many classes you can miss or need to attend.

    FAQ

Attendance Calculator — frequently asked questions

Why is 75% the default target?+

Most Indian universities and AICTE-affiliated engineering colleges require at least 75% attendance for students to be eligible to sit for semester exams. You can change the target if your college uses a different rule.

How is "classes you can bunk" calculated?+

We work out the maximum number of upcoming classes you could miss while your attendance stays at or above your target, assuming the total number of classes keeps increasing as you skip them.

How is "classes needed to attend" calculated?+

We calculate how many upcoming classes you'd need to attend, back to back with no more misses, for your attendance to rise to the target percentage.

    Guide · Word Counter

Why word count, character count, and reading time aren't the same thing

A word counter looks simple on the surface but actually tracks several different measurements at once — total words, total characters (with and without spaces), sentence count, paragraph count, and an estimated reading time — each useful for a different kind of writing task.

When character count matters more than word count

Platforms with a strict character limit — a tweet-style post, an SMS, or a form field with a hard cap — care about character count, not word count, since two sentences with the same word count can differ significantly in character length depending on word choice.

When word count is what matters

Academic essays, assignments, and articles are almost always specified by word count rather than characters, since it's a more consistent measure of content length across different writing styles. Meeting a minimum or staying under a maximum word count is often a strict requirement worth checking as you write, not only at the end.

    How reading time is estimated

Reading time estimates are usually based on an average adult reading speed of roughly 200-250 words per minute for general text, so a 1,000-word article works out to somewhere around four to five minutes — useful context for blog posts or articles where you want to set reader expectations upfront.

    • Paste or type your text and the counts update live as you edit.
    • Use the sentence and paragraph counts to gauge how dense or broken-up your writing is.
    • Check both word and character counts when a platform's limit isn't explicitly stated.

    Guide · Text Summarizer

Getting a useful summary out of a long piece of text

A summarizer condenses a long article, document, or paragraph down to its key points, saving time when you need the gist of something without reading every line — useful for skimming research material, articles, or long reports before deciding whether to read the full text.

What a summary keeps and what it drops

A good summary keeps the central claims, key facts, and conclusions of the original text, while dropping supporting examples, repeated points, and stylistic flourishes that don't change the core meaning. The shorter the summary length you choose, the more aggressively less-essential detail gets trimmed.

    When a summary can mislead

Summarizing works best on text with a clear main point — an article, a report, an explanation. It's less reliable on text where nuance and exact wording genuinely matter, such as legal or contractual text, where a shortened version could accidentally drop a qualifying condition that changes the meaning. For anything with legal or financial consequences, always read the full original.

    Getting a better summary

    • Paste well-structured text (clear paragraphs) rather than a jumbled block for a cleaner result.
    • Choose a shorter summary length for a quick skim, or a longer one if you need more of the supporting detail retained.
    • Treat the summary as a starting point — for anything important, cross-check against the original text.

Everything is processed locally in your browser, so the text you're summarizing isn't sent off to an external service.

Generate strong, random passwords with the exact length and character mix you need — created instantly in your browser, never sent anywhere.

    FAQ

Password Generator — frequently asked questions

Are the passwords I generate sent anywhere?+

No, passwords are generated locally in your browser using your device's own randomness source — nothing is transmitted, logged or stored anywhere.

    What length should I use?+

16 characters or more is a good default for most accounts. Longer is always stronger, so use the maximum a site allows if you can.

    Should I exclude similar characters?+

Only if you plan to type the password by hand. If you're copying and pasting or using a password manager, there's no need to exclude similar-looking characters.

Can I reuse this password on multiple accounts?+

It isn't recommended. Use a different randomly generated password for every account so a breach on one site can't be used to unlock others.

    Guide · Password Generator

What actually makes a password hard to crack

A strong password isn't about being clever with substitutions like "P@ssw0rd" — attackers' cracking tools already account for common substitutions. What actually matters is length and genuine randomness, since both make the number of possible combinations an attacker would have to try astronomically larger.

    Length beats complexity rules

A long, random password of 16+ characters is generally far stronger than a shorter password crammed with symbols, because each additional character multiplies the total number of possible combinations. Many sites still enforce arbitrary complexity rules (at least one uppercase, one number, one symbol), but length is the single factor that matters most for resisting brute-force attacks.

Why reused passwords are the real risk

Even a genuinely strong password becomes a liability if it's reused across multiple accounts — a single data breach on one unrelated website can expose a password that then unlocks every other account where you reused it. Using a different, randomly generated password for every account contains the damage from any single breach.

    Practical tips

    • Use at least 16 characters where a site allows it, mixing letters, numbers and symbols.
    • Never reuse the same password across more than one account.
    • Store generated passwords in a password manager rather than trying to memorize dozens of random strings.
    • Turn on two-factor authentication wherever it's available, as a second layer beyond the password itself.

The generator creates a random string directly in your browser using your device's own randomness source — nothing you generate is transmitted or logged anywhere.

    Guide · Meme Generator

Making a meme that actually lands

The classic meme format — bold white text with a black outline, top and bottom of an image — has stayed popular because it's instantly readable at any size, which matters since most memes are viewed as small thumbnails scrolling past in a feed rather than full-screen.

    Keeping text short and readable

Meme text works best short — a single punchy line at the top and bottom, rather than a paragraph crammed into the frame. Long text shrinks to fit the image width, which quickly becomes unreadable at the small sizes memes are usually viewed at on a phone screen.

    Picking the right image

A meme's humor usually comes from the mismatch between the image's original context and the new text placed over it — an image with a clearly readable, expressive face or reaction generally works better as a template than a busy, cluttered photo where the added text competes visually with the background.

    Quick tips

    • Keep both text lines roughly balanced in length so the layout looks even.
    • Use the classic bold white-with-black-outline text for maximum readability against any background.
    • Preview at a small size before sharing — if it's hard to read as a thumbnail, shorten the text.

The image and text are composited together directly in your browser, so you can preview and re-edit the wording as many times as you like before downloading the final image.

    Age Calculator

Find your exact age in years, months and days from your date of birth — plus total days lived and days until your next birthday.

Enter your date of birth, then tap Calculate Age to see your result.
    Guide · Age Calculator

Why calculating exact age by hand goes wrong so easily

Working out age in years, months, and days by hand seems simple until you hit a birth month that hasn't occurred yet this year, or a leap year in the mix — both of which trip up manual subtraction more often than people expect.

    Where manual calculations go wrong

If today's date falls before your birthday this year, you have to "borrow" from the year calculation, similar to borrowing in subtraction — get this wrong and you'll be off by exactly one year. Leap years add another wrinkle, since February has an extra day roughly once every four years, which shifts day counts if a leap day falls within the range you're calculating.

What an exact age calculation gives you

Beyond just a birthday countdown, exact age in years, months and days is genuinely required for things like eligibility checks (a minimum age for a competitive exam or a specific age cutoff for admission), or simply satisfying curiosity about precisely how long you've been alive down to the day.

    Common uses

    • Checking eligibility for exams, scholarships, or government schemes with a specific age cutoff.
    • Working out exact age difference between two people or two dates.
    • Finding out exactly how many days until your next birthday.

Enter your date of birth and today's date (or any target date), and the calculator handles the leap-year and month-length edge cases automatically.

    Percentage Calculator

Find a percentage of a number, work out what percent one value is of another, or calculate percentage increase or decrease — instantly, right in your browser.

Fill in the values, then tap Calculate to see your result.
    Guide · Percentage Calculator

The percentage calculations people actually get stuck on

Percentages come up constantly — discounts, exam marks, tips, salary hikes — but a few specific percentage calculations trip people up more than the basic "what is X% of Y" case, mostly around percentage change and reversing a percentage back to an original value.

    Percentage of a number

The simplest case: to find X% of Y, multiply Y by X and divide by 100. For example, 18% of ₹1,500 is 1500 × 18 ÷ 100 = ₹270. This is the calculation behind discounts, tax additions, and marks scored out of a total.

    Percentage change (increase or decrease)

To find the percentage change between two numbers, subtract the original value from the new value, divide that difference by the original value, then multiply by 100. Get the order of subtraction wrong and you'll get the right magnitude but the wrong sign — mixing up an increase for a decrease.

    Working backward from a percentage

If you know a discounted price and the discount percentage, finding the original price isn't as simple as adding the percentage back — you need to divide the discounted price by (1 − discount as a decimal). A price of ₹800 after a 20% discount comes from an original of 800 ÷ 0.8 = ₹1,000, not 800 + 20% of 800.

    • Use "percentage of a number" for discounts, tax, and marks calculations.
    • Use "percentage change" to compare an old value to a new one, like a salary hike or a price change.
    • Use "reverse percentage" to recover an original value from a discounted or increased amount.

    Text Case Converter

Convert any text to UPPERCASE, lowercase, Title Case, Sentence case, camelCase, snake_case and more — instantly, right in your browser.

    Guide · Case Converter

When to use each text case, and why it matters more than it seems

Text case isn't just a stylistic choice — different contexts have real conventions around it, from programming variable names to title formatting in an article, and getting it wrong can look inconsistent or even break code that expects a specific naming convention.

Common case styles and where they belong

    • Sentence case — only the first word and proper nouns capitalized — is standard for regular prose and most UI labels.
    • Title Case — Every Major Word Capitalized — is common for headlines, book titles, and section headings.
    • UPPERCASE is used sparingly, usually for emphasis, acronyms, or short warning labels — long stretches of uppercase text are harder to read and can come across as shouting.
    • camelCase and snake_case are programming conventions for variable and function names, chosen based on the language or style guide a codebase follows.

    Why manual retyping introduces errors

Manually retyping a block of text just to change its case is slow and easy to get wrong, especially with longer paragraphs, since it's easy to accidentally alter words or punctuation while retyping rather than just reformatting the case.

    Practical uses

Converting a title someone pasted in all caps down to proper title case, cleaning up variable names when switching between programming naming conventions, or converting a paragraph to sentence case after copying it from a source that used a different formatting style throughout.

Paste your text, choose the case style you need, and the conversion happens instantly without altering anything except the letter casing itself.

    Bulk File Renamer

Rename dozens of files at once — add a sequence number, a prefix or suffix, or find & replace text in filenames — all inside your browser, nothing ever uploaded.

    Drag & drop files here

or browse from your device — any file type, add as many as you like

    Guide

    How to bulk rename files

    Step 1

    Upload your files

Drag and drop any number of files, of any type, or click to browse from your device.

    Step 2

    Pick a rename pattern

Use Sequential Rename to add a base name and numbered sequence, or Find & Replace to swap text inside existing filenames.

    Step 3

    Download the results

Preview every new filename instantly, then download all your renamed files in one click.

    Guide · File Renamer

Batch renaming files without doing it one by one

Renaming a handful of files one at a time is manageable, but a folder of a hundred photos or documents that all need a consistent naming pattern quickly becomes tedious to do by hand — which is exactly the problem batch renaming solves.

    Common batch renaming patterns

    • Adding a sequential number to a set of files — photo-001, photo-002, photo-003 — so they sort in the right order.
    • Prefixing or suffixing every file with a common label, like a project name or a date.
    • Find-and-replace across all filenames at once, useful for fixing a typo or an outdated label that appears in many file names.
    • Stripping unwanted characters — spaces, special symbols — that some systems or upload forms don't accept in filenames.

    Why consistent naming actually matters

Files named consistently sort correctly, are easier to search for later, and avoid the ambiguity of generic names like "IMG_2043" or "Untitled document (3)" that give no clue what's inside without opening each one individually.

A few tips before renaming in bulk

Preview the new names before applying the batch rename, since a pattern mistake applied across dozens of files is easy to make and time-consuming to undo file by file. Avoid special characters that some operating systems or upload systems reject, like slashes or colons, in the naming pattern you choose.

Select your files, define the renaming pattern once, and the tool applies it consistently across every file in the batch.

    FAQ

File Renamer — frequently asked questions

Are my files uploaded to a server?+

No, renaming happens entirely in your browser — each file is only reconstructed locally under its new name before being downloaded straight to your device.

Does this change the contents of my files?+

No, only the filename changes. The file's actual content and quality remain exactly the same, byte for byte.

Can I rename any file type?+

Yes, this tool works with any file type — photos, PDFs, documents, videos and more — since it only ever touches the filename, never the content.

Why does my browser ask before downloading multiple files?+

Browsers show a one-time permission prompt when a site tries to trigger several downloads at once. Allow it, and all your renamed files will save normally.

    Text to Handwriting Converter

Turn typed text into realistic handwritten notes on ruled notebook paper — pick a font, ink colour and paper style, then download as an image or PDF. Nothing ever leaves your browser.

    Guide

How to convert text to handwriting

    Step 1

    Paste your text

Type or paste any amount of text — long text automatically splits into multiple notebook pages.

    Step 2

    Style your page

Pick a handwriting font, a paper style (ruled, grid or plain) and an ink colour.

    Step 3

    Download the result

Download every page as an image, or combine them into a single ready-to-print PDF.

    Guide · Text to Handwriting

Turning typed text into a handwritten-style page

Converting typed text into a handwriting-style image is popular for making assignment notes look handwritten, creating personalized notes and letters, or simply saving time compared to writing out a long passage by hand while still keeping a handwritten look for a class or personal project.

Choosing a font that looks natural

Handwriting-style fonts vary a lot in how convincing they look — some closely mimic natural pen strokes and slight irregularities, while others look more clearly computer-generated. Picking a font that matches the tone you want (a neat, careful hand vs. a quicker, more casual scrawl) makes a real difference to how natural the final page looks.

    Paper style and layout

Matching the background to ruled notebook paper, plain white paper, or graph paper — whichever fits your use case — along with realistic margins and line spacing, helps the final image read as a genuinely handwritten page rather than an obviously templated one.

    Tips for a convincing result

    • Choose a font and ink color combination that matches how you'd naturally write by hand.
    • Keep line spacing and margins close to a real notebook page rather than uniform machine spacing.
    • Break very long text into multiple pages rather than shrinking the font to fit everything onto one.

Type or paste your text, choose a handwriting style and paper background, and the tool renders the page as a downloadable image.

    FAQ

Text to Handwriting — frequently asked questions

Is my text sent to a server?+

No, everything is drawn locally on a canvas in your browser — your text is never uploaded anywhere.

Does long text split into multiple pages?+

Yes, text that doesn't fit on one notebook page automatically continues onto additional pages, which you can preview and download individually or as one PDF.

Can I change the ink colour and paper style?+

Yes, choose between blue, black or red ink, and ruled, grid or plain paper, and the preview updates instantly.

Can I use this for assignments?+

This tool is meant for notes, presentations, greeting cards and similar creative or personal use — always follow your institution's academic integrity rules for any submitted assignments.

      Guide · Monthly Expense Tracker

A simple way to actually stick to a monthly budget

Most budgeting struggles aren't about lacking a plan — they're about not tracking where money actually goes each month. A monthly expense tracker closes that gap by recording income and spending by category, so patterns that are easy to miss in the moment become obvious when you look at the full month together.

      The needs, wants, savings split

A common and simple way to structure a budget is splitting spending into needs (rent, groceries, bills — things you genuinely can't avoid), wants (dining out, entertainment, non-essential shopping), and savings (money set aside rather than spent). Seeing this split as a percentage of income, rather than just a list of numbers, makes it much easier to spot when "wants" spending has quietly crept up.

Why category-wise tracking beats a single total

Knowing you spent ₹40,000 this month tells you little on its own; knowing that ₹12,000 of it went to food delivery tells you exactly where to look if you want to cut back. Breaking expenses into categories turns a vague sense of "I'm spending too much" into a specific, actionable target.

      Setting a savings goal

A savings goal with a target amount gives tracking a purpose beyond just recording numbers — seeing progress toward a specific target, and an estimate of how many months it'll take at your current savings pace, makes consistent saving feel more concrete than an open-ended "save more" intention.

      • Log income and every expense as it happens, rather than trying to reconstruct the month from memory later.
      • Review the needs/wants/savings breakdown at the end of each month, not just the total spent.
      • Set a realistic savings goal and check your pace regularly rather than only at the end.

All your entries are saved locally in your browser for each month, so you can flip back through previous months' breakdowns without any account or sign-up.

      FAQ

Expense Tracker — frequently asked questions

Is my financial data uploaded anywhere?+

No, everything is saved only in your own browser's local storage on this device. Nothing is sent to any server, so no one else can see your numbers.

How are the money-saving tips generated?+

They're based on your own numbers for the month — your biggest spending category, your savings rate, and your needs vs. wants split — so they update automatically as you log expenses.

How does the savings goal tracker work?+

Set a goal name and target amount, then add money to it whenever you save towards it. The progress bar shows how close you are, and it estimates how many months you'll need based on this month's savings pace.

Will my data still be here if I come back next month?+

Yes, each month is saved separately in your browser, so you can use the Prev and Next buttons to move between months without losing anything — as long as you use the same browser and device.

      Business Name Generator

Get catchy name ideas for your business, startup, YouTube channel, brand or app — enter a keyword, pick a style, and generate as many rounds as you like.

Enter a keyword, pick a category and style, then hit Generate.

      Guide

Get a fresh batch of names in seconds

      Step 1

      Type a keyword

Use a word tied to your idea — a niche, hobby, product, or theme.

      Step 2

      Pick category & style

Choose what you're naming and the vibe — modern, fun, professional, creative or short.

      Step 3

      Generate & save

Click Generate for a fresh batch anytime, copy any name, or download the whole list.

      Guide · Naming

How to pick a name that actually sticks

A good name is short enough to remember, easy to say out loud, and gives at least a hint of what the business, channel or app is about — but it doesn't have to describe everything literally, since some of the most recognisable brands use invented or unrelated words.

What to check before you commit

      • Say it out loud — if people are likely to mishear or misspell it, that's friction you'll deal with forever.
      • Check domain and handle availability on the platforms that matter most to you before falling in love with a name.
      • Search the name plus your industry to see if another business is already using something close to it.
      • Keep a shortlist of 3-5 favourites rather than deciding on the first idea that sounds good.

      Why keyword-based generation works

Starting from a keyword tied to your niche keeps every suggestion relevant, while mixing in prefixes, suffixes and style-based words gives you variety without wandering completely off-topic. Generating multiple rounds and comparing batches side by side usually surfaces better options than staring at a blank page.

Enter your keyword, choose a category and style above, and generate as many rounds as you need until something clicks.

      FAQ

      Common questions

Is this name generator free to use?+

Yes, it's completely free with no limit on how many times you can generate names.

Are the suggested names trademarked or already taken?+

Not necessarily — these are freshly generated suggestions, not a registry check. Always search the name and check domain/trademark availability yourself before using it.

Can I use this for a YouTube channel or app name too?+

Yes — pick the category that matches what you're naming (business, startup, YouTube channel, brand or app) to steer the style of suggestions.

      Is my data stored anywhere?+

No, everything runs locally in your browser — nothing you type is uploaded or saved on a server.

      PDF
      Guide

How to protect or unlock a PDF

      Step 1

      Choose a mode

Pick "Protect PDF" to lock a file with a new password, or "Remove Password" to unlock one you already have the password for.

      Step 2

      Add your file & password

Drop in your PDF, then enter the password you want to set — or the password the file currently requires.

      Step 3

      Download the result

Get a protected copy that asks for your password, or an unlocked copy that opens without one.

      Guide · PDF Security

When to password-protect a PDF, and how removal actually works

A password on a PDF is a simple way to keep sensitive documents — contracts, payslips, ID scans — from being opened by anyone who doesn't have the password, without needing any special software to view it once unlocked.

      What "Protect PDF" does

It encrypts your file with the password you choose, using standard PDF encryption that any PDF reader will recognise — the file will prompt for that password before it opens.

      What "Remove Password" does

Since removing an existing password means fully decrypting the file, this tool opens the PDF using the password you provide and rebuilds a new, unlocked PDF from it page by page. The layout and content look the same, but the rebuilt file is image-based, so any selectable text in the original won't be selectable in the output.

Both directions run entirely in your browser — your file and password are never uploaded anywhere.

      FAQ

      Common questions

Can this tool crack or guess a PDF password I don't know?+

No. "Remove Password" only works if you already know the current password — it's for unlocking your own files, not bypassing security on files you don't have access to.

Will the unlocked PDF still have selectable text?+

Removing a password requires fully decrypting and rebuilding the file, so the output is reconstructed page-by-page as images. It looks identical, but text may no longer be selectable or searchable.

Is my PDF or password uploaded anywhere?+

No — both protecting and unlocking happen locally in your browser. Nothing is sent to a server.

What encryption is used to protect a PDF?+

Standard PDF password encryption, recognised by all major PDF readers — the file will ask for your password before opening.

      Guide

How to convert Excel to PDF

      Step 1

      Upload your spreadsheet

Drag and drop a .xlsx or .xls file, or browse from your device.

      Step 2

      Convert

Each sheet in your workbook is laid out as a table and paginated automatically to fit A4 pages.

      Step 3

      Download the PDF

Your spreadsheet downloads as a single PDF, with every sheet included in order.

      Guide · Spreadsheets

Why convert a spreadsheet to PDF before sharing it

A PDF freezes exactly what the reader sees — no accidental edits, no formula errors from a different spreadsheet app, and consistent formatting across every device, which makes it the safer format for sharing a finished report, invoice-style sheet, or data export with someone outside your team.

What happens to formulas and formatting

The values currently shown in each cell are converted into a table, so calculated results carry over correctly, while the underlying formulas themselves are not preserved in the PDF, since a PDF is a fixed, non-editable format by design.

      Multiple sheets

Every sheet in the workbook is converted in order and separated onto its own set of pages, with the sheet name shown as a heading, so a multi-tab workbook stays organised in the final PDF.

      FAQ

      Common questions

Does this preserve my Excel formulas?+

The calculated values are preserved and shown correctly, but formulas themselves are not — a PDF is a fixed, non-editable snapshot.

What if my spreadsheet has multiple sheets?+

Every sheet is converted and included in the same PDF, in order, each starting on its own page with the sheet name as a heading.

      Is my spreadsheet uploaded anywhere?+

No, the conversion happens entirely in your browser — your file is never uploaded to a server.

      Base64 Encode / Decode

Encode text or images to Base64, or decode a Base64 string back into readable text or a downloadable image — instantly, right in your browser.

      Guide

How to encode or decode Base64

      Step 1

      Choose Text or Image

Pick "Text" to encode/decode plain text, or "Image" to convert a picture to Base64 (or back).

      Step 2

      Paste, upload or type

Enter your text, upload an image, or paste a Base64 string — everything runs instantly on your own device.

      Step 3

      Copy or download

Copy the result to your clipboard, or download it as a text file or image file.

      Guide · Base64

What Base64 actually is (and isn't)

Base64 is a way of representing binary data — like an image, font or file — using only 64 printable text characters (A-Z, a-z, 0-9, + and /). It's used everywhere text-only formats need to carry binary-ish data: embedding small images directly in CSS or HTML, attaching files in emails, or passing data safely inside a JSON payload or URL.

      Base64 is not encryption

A common misconception is that Base64 hides or protects data — it doesn't. It's purely an encoding scheme, and anyone can decode it back to the original instantly. It should never be relied on for security or privacy; use real encryption for that.

Why the string looks longer than the original

Base64 encoding increases the size of the data by roughly a third, since it maps every 3 bytes of binary data into 4 text characters — a trade-off worth knowing if you're embedding a large image directly as Base64 rather than linking to a file.

      • Use "Image → Base64" to get a data URL you can paste directly into CSS, HTML, or an API payload.
      • Use "Base64 → Image" to turn a data URL or raw Base64 string back into a downloadable image file.
      • The text mode correctly handles emoji and non-English characters using UTF-8 before encoding.
      FAQ

      Base64 Encode/Decode — frequently asked questions

What is Base64 encoding used for?+

Base64 turns binary data (like images) or text into a plain-text string of letters, numbers and a few symbols, so it can be safely embedded in places that only accept text — JSON, HTML, CSS, emails and URLs.

Can I convert an image to Base64 and back?+

Yes. Upload an image to get its Base64 data URL, or paste a Base64 string / data URL to decode it back into a downloadable image.

Is Base64 the same as encryption?+

No. Base64 is an encoding, not encryption — anyone can decode it instantly. It doesn't hide or protect data, it just represents it in a text-safe format.

Does Base64 work with any language or special characters?+

Yes, this tool correctly handles Unicode text (emoji, accented letters, non-Latin scripts) using UTF-8 encoding before converting to Base64.

Is my text or image uploaded anywhere?+

No, everything is encoded and decoded locally in your browser using JavaScript — nothing is sent to a server.

      Guide

How to use the colour picker

      Step 1

      Pick a mode

Use "Color Picker" to choose a single colour, or "Palette Extractor" to pull colours out of an image.

      Step 2

      Pick or upload

Use the colour wheel or eyedropper, or drag in a photo — the swatches and codes update instantly.

      Step 3

      Copy your codes

Copy the HEX, RGB or HSL value with one click, ready to paste into your design tool or code.

      Guide · Colour Picker

HEX vs RGB vs HSL — which one should you use?

The same colour can be written three common ways: HEX (like #00B89A), RGB (like rgb(0, 184, 154)), or HSL (like hsl(170, 100%, 36%)) — all describe the identical colour, just in different formats suited to different tools.

HEX — the web design standard

HEX codes are the most common format in CSS, design tools and image editors, since they're compact and easy to paste around. Each pair of characters represents red, green and blue intensity from 00 to FF.

RGB — closer to how screens actually work

RGB expresses the same red, green and blue channels as plain 0-255 numbers, which maps directly to how a screen's pixels are lit, making it useful when working with code that manipulates colour values numerically.

HSL — the easiest to reason about

HSL (Hue, Saturation, Lightness) is often the most intuitive for adjusting a colour by feel — keeping hue fixed and sliding lightness gives you tints and shades of the same colour without recalculating RGB values by hand.

Extracting a palette from an image

A dominant-colour palette groups similar pixel colours together and returns the most frequent ones — handy for pulling a brand palette out of a logo, or picking complementary colours out of a photo for a design.

      FAQ

Color Picker — frequently asked questions

How do I extract colours from an image?+

Switch to the Palette Extractor tab and upload an image — the tool analyses it and shows the most common colours as swatches with their HEX and RGB codes.

      Can I pick a colour manually?+

Yes, use the Color Picker tab to choose any colour and instantly see its HEX, RGB and HSL values, each with a one-click copy button.

      How to rotate a PDF

      Step 1

      Upload your PDF

Drag and drop a PDF file, or click to browse from your device — every page renders as a thumbnail.

      Step 2

      Rotate pages

Use the rotate arrows on each page, or rotate every page at once with "Rotate All Left/Right".

      Step 3

      Download the result

Tap "Download Rotated PDF" to save the corrected file — nothing else about the document changes.

      Guide · PDF Rotate

Why PDF pages end up sideways in the first place

Sideways or upside-down pages are almost always a scanning problem — a document fed into a scanner in landscape orientation, or a mixed-orientation batch that gets exported without correcting page rotation along the way.

      Per-page vs whole-document rotation

Rotating the entire document works when every page has the same problem, which is common with scans. Mixed documents — where some pages are portrait and others landscape — need each affected page rotated individually instead, which is why per-page controls matter alongside a rotate-all shortcut.

      What actually changes

Rotating a PDF page only updates its orientation metadata — the text and images inside the page are not re-rendered or recompressed, so there's no loss in quality or resolution from rotating.

      • Use "Rotate All" first if the whole scan came in sideways.
      • Then fine-tune any individual pages that still look wrong.
      • Preview thumbnails update live so you can confirm orientation before downloading.
      FAQ

PDF Rotate — frequently asked questions

Can I rotate just one page of a PDF?+

Yes, use the rotate-left or rotate-right button on each page thumbnail to rotate that page individually, in 90-degree steps.

Can I rotate every page at once?+

Yes, use "Rotate All Left" or "Rotate All Right" to rotate every page in the document together, then fine-tune individual pages if needed.

Will rotating affect the quality of my PDF?+

No, only the page orientation metadata changes — the underlying text and image content is untouched, so there's no quality loss.

Is my PDF uploaded to a server?+

No, rotation happens locally in your browser using PDF-editing libraries loaded from a public CDN — your file is never uploaded anywhere.

Does this work with password-protected PDFs?+

Not currently — please remove the password/encryption from a PDF first before rotating it here.

Download the ZIP, drop the files into your site's root, then paste the provided HTML into your <head>.

      Guide · Favicon Generator

Why a "favicon" is actually a whole set of images

A favicon isn't one file — different browsers, home-screen shortcuts and bookmark tiles each ask for a different pixel size, so a properly set-up site ships several versions of the same icon rather than a single image stretched to fit.

What each size is actually for

The tiny 16×16 and 32×32 versions show up in browser tabs and bookmark bars, where every pixel counts — fine detail and small text simply disappear at that size. The 180×180 version is what iOS uses when someone adds your site to their home screen, while 192×192 and 512×512 cover Android home-screen icons and the icon shown while a progressive web app is loading.

Designing an icon that survives shrinking

      • Start from a square, high-contrast mark rather than a full logo with a wordmark — text usually becomes unreadable below 48px.
      • Leave a little padding around the edges so the icon doesn't look cropped once browsers round its corners.
      • Check the 16px preview specifically — if it reads as a blob, simplify the artwork further.

Upload your image once and this tool renders every required size side by side, so you can judge how the icon actually holds up before generating the final ICO, PNG set and manifest.

      FAQ

Favicon Generator — frequently asked questions

What sizes does the favicon generator create?+

      You get 16×16, 32×32, 48×48, 180×180 (Apple touch icon), 192×192 and 512×512 PNGs, plus a multi-size favicon.ico containing the 16, 32 and 48 pixel versions.

Do I get the HTML code to add it to my site?+

Yes, a ready-to-paste snippet of <link> tags is shown after you upload an image, so you can copy it straight into your page's <head>.

What image formats can I upload?+

JPG, PNG, WEBP or SVG all work. A square image with a simple, bold design gives the cleanest results at small sizes.

Guide · Image Rotator / Flip

Rotate vs flip — and when you need each one

Photos end up sideways for a very ordinary reason: phones and cameras record which way was "up" when the shutter clicked, and not every app that later opens the file reads that orientation tag correctly — so the same photo can look upright in one app and sideways in another.

      When to rotate

Rotating in 90° steps is the fix for a photo taken with the camera turned sideways or upside down. Since the turn is always a right angle, nothing in the image is distorted or resampled — pixels simply move to a new position.

      When to flip instead

Flipping mirrors an image left-to-right or top-to-bottom, which is different from rotating. It's the right fix for a front-facing camera or webcam shot where text or logos appear backwards, or for a scan that was fed into the scanner face-down.

      • Sideways or upside-down photo → rotate left or right.
      • Mirrored text or a backwards logo → flip horizontal.
      • A scan that came out upside-down top-to-bottom → flip vertical, or rotate 180°.

Every transform in this tool runs on an HTML canvas element in your browser, so you can stack a rotation and a flip and preview the exact result before downloading.

      FAQ

Image Rotator / Flip — frequently asked questions

Can I rotate an image by an angle other than 90 degrees?+

This tool rotates in 90-degree steps (left or right) for fast, lossless orientation fixes. For fine-grained straightening, use the crop tool's selection box as a workaround.

What's the difference between rotate and flip?+

Rotating turns the image around a point, in 90° steps. Flipping mirrors the image across a horizontal or vertical axis, which is useful for correcting a mirrored scan or webcam capture.

      Can I combine a rotation and a flip?+

Yes, rotate and flip actions stack — for example rotate 90° right, then flip horizontal — and the preview updates after every step so you can see the combined result.

Is my image uploaded to a server?+

No, every rotation and flip happens locally using the HTML canvas element in your browser — your file never leaves your device.

      Step 3

      See your breakdown

Get the estimated maturity value, how much of it is your own contribution, and how much is growth.

      Guide · SIP Calculator

How SIP compounding actually builds wealth over time

A Systematic Investment Plan (SIP) is a fixed amount invested into a mutual fund every month, rather than investing a large sum once. The maturity value depends on three things: how much you invest each month, the rate of return the fund earns, and how long the money stays invested.

Why time matters more than the amount

Because returns compound month over month, the number of years invested tends to affect the final corpus far more than modest increases in the monthly amount — money invested early has many more compounding cycles ahead of it than money invested later, even at the same monthly amount and rate.

      SIP vs lumpsum

A lumpsum investment grows on the full amount from day one, which can outperform a SIP of the same total size if markets rise steadily. A SIP instead spreads purchases across many months, which averages out the price paid across market ups and downs — a smoother, lower-stress way to invest for most people who don't want to time the market.

      • A higher expected return rate assumption produces a larger projected corpus — but returns aren't guaranteed, so it's worth checking the estimate at a few different rates.
      • A longer tenure lets compounding do more of the work, often more than a larger monthly amount over a shorter period.
      • The "invested amount" figure is simply monthly amount × number of months — everything above that is projected growth.

Enter your numbers above to see the estimated maturity value, your total contribution, and the projected wealth gained, side by side.

      FAQ

SIP / Mutual Fund Calculator — frequently asked questions

What formula does the SIP calculator use?+

      Maturity value M = P × [ ((1+i)^n − 1) / i ] × (1+i), where P is the monthly investment, i is the monthly rate of return (annual rate ÷ 12 ÷ 100), and n is the number of months.

      Is the SIP return guaranteed?+

No, the expected return rate you enter is an assumption. Mutual fund returns are market-linked and not guaranteed, so treat this as an estimate for planning, not a promise of actual returns.

What's the difference between SIP and lumpsum mode?+

SIP mode assumes a fixed amount invested every month. Lumpsum mode assumes the entire amount is invested once, upfront, and grows at the expected annual rate for the full tenure.

Does this account for expense ratio or exit load?+

No, this is a simple compounding estimate based on the return rate you enter. Actual fund returns are shown after the fund's expense ratio, and exit loads or taxes on redemption aren't factored in here.

      Guide · Income Tax Calculator

Old regime vs new regime — what actually decides the winner

Since Budget 2025, the new tax regime taxes income up to ₹4 lakh at nil, then 5% up to ₹8 lakh, 10% up to ₹12 lakh, 15% up to ₹16 lakh, 20% up to ₹20 lakh, 25% up to ₹24 lakh, and 30% beyond that — combined with a Section 87A rebate of up to ₹60,000 that makes net taxable income up to ₹12 lakh effectively tax-free.

Why the new regime usually wins without deductions

The new regime's slabs are wider and its rates lower at every level compared to the old regime's ₹2.5 lakh / ₹5 lakh / ₹10 lakh structure — but it only allows a standard deduction (₹75,000 for salaried taxpayers and pensioners) and a few narrow exceptions, with no 80C, 80D, HRA or home loan interest deduction on a self-occupied property.

When the old regime still comes out ahead

The old regime becomes competitive once your deductions add up: ₹1.5 lakh under 80C, up to ₹50,000 more under NPS 80CCD(1B), a health insurance premium under 80D, HRA if you pay rent, and up to ₹2 lakh of home loan interest on a self-occupied property. Stack several of these together and the old regime's lower taxable income can outweigh its higher rates.

      • Little to no deductions, or renting without HRA in your salary structure → the new regime usually wins.
      • Home loan + 80C + NPS + 80D all in use → run both numbers, since the old regime can pull ahead.
      • Marginal relief smooths the edge just above the ₹12 lakh new-regime threshold, so a small rise in income there doesn't cause a disproportionate tax jump.

Enter your income and deductions above to see the exact tax under each regime, slab by slab, rather than relying on rules of thumb.

      FAQ

Income Tax Calculator — frequently asked questions

Which financial year do these slabs apply to?+

This calculator uses the slab rates for FY 2025-26 (AY 2026-27), which Budget 2026 kept unchanged for FY 2026-27 (AY 2027-28) as well.

Is income really tax-free up to ₹12 lakh in the new regime?+

Yes, for net taxable income up to ₹12,00,000, the Section 87A rebate of up to ₹60,000 cancels out the tax computed under the new-regime slabs. For salaried taxpayers, the ₹75,000 standard deduction pushes the effective tax-free gross salary to about ₹12.75 lakh.

      Which regime should I choose?+

The new regime usually wins if you claim few deductions. The old regime can still work out cheaper if your combined 80C, 80D, HRA and home loan interest deductions are large. Enter your deductions above and compare both totals directly.

Does this calculator handle surcharge and marginal relief?+

Yes, a simplified surcharge is applied above ₹50 lakh, ₹1 crore and ₹2 crore, and marginal relief is applied around the ₹12 lakh new-regime rebate threshold. For a return you're about to file, always cross-check with the official Income Tax Department calculator or a tax professional.

Guide · FD / RD Calculator

FD vs RD — which one grows your money better?

A Fixed Deposit locks in a lump sum for a fixed tenure at a fixed rate, while a Recurring Deposit lets you build up a deposit through equal monthly instalments — both are commonly used by Indian savers who want guaranteed, low-risk returns rather than market-linked ones.

Why compounding frequency matters for FDs

Most Indian banks compound FD interest quarterly, which yields slightly more than yearly compounding at the same nominal rate, since interest itself starts earning interest sooner. Comparing FDs at different compounding frequencies is one of the easiest ways to catch a marginally better real return.

RD maturity isn't a simple multiplication

Because each monthly instalment sits in the bank for a different length of time, an RD's maturity value isn't just monthly deposit × months — the earliest instalments earn interest for close to the full tenure, while the last one barely earns any, which is exactly what the quarterly-compounding RD formula accounts for.

      • FDs suit a lump sum you already have and don't need soon.
      • RDs suit disciplined monthly saving when you don't have a lump sum upfront.
      • Breaking an FD or RD early usually reduces the effective interest rate — check your bank's premature withdrawal terms first.
      FAQ

FD / RD Calculator — frequently asked questions

      How is FD maturity calculated?+

FD maturity uses compound interest: A = P × (1 + r/(n×100))^(n×t), where P is the principal, r is the annual interest rate, n is the compounding frequency per year, and t is the tenure in years.

      How is RD maturity calculated?+

RD maturity uses the standard quarterly-compounding formula banks use: M = R × [((1+i)^q − 1) / (1 − (1+i)^(−1/3))], where R is the monthly deposit, i is the quarterly rate, and q is the number of quarters.

Is TDS deducted from FD/RD interest?+

Banks in India deduct TDS if interest earned crosses the threshold set by the Income Tax Department in a financial year. This calculator shows the gross maturity value before any TDS deduction.

      Guide · Tip Calculator

Working out a tip and splitting a bill without the awkward maths at the table

Tipping norms vary a lot by country and even by city, but the underlying maths is always the same: take a percentage of the bill as the tip, add it to the original amount, then divide by however many people are sharing the cost.

      Tipping in India

Tipping isn't as strictly expected in India as in some other countries, but 10% has become a common informal norm at sit-down restaurants, especially in cities — many restaurants also add a discretionary service charge to the bill already, which is worth checking before adding a tip on top.

Splitting evenly vs splitting by order

This calculator assumes an even split, which works well for a shared meal where everyone roughly ate the same amount. If one person ordered significantly more than others, an itemised split — where each person pays for exactly what they had, plus their share of the tip — is fairer, though it takes a bit more working out.

      FAQ

Tip Calculator — frequently asked questions

How is the tip amount calculated?+

Tip amount = bill amount × tip percentage ÷ 100. The total is the bill plus the tip, and both are then divided by the number of people to get the per-person share.

      What's a fair tip percentage?+

In India, 10% is a common standard tip at restaurants, though some people tip 5% for casual service and up to 15-20% for excellent service. There's no fixed rule — it varies by city and establishment.

Does this split the tip evenly among everyone?+

Yes, this calculator assumes the total bill and tip are split evenly across the number of people you enter. For itemised splitting where people pay for what they ordered, add up each portion separately.

BMR, TDEE, and turning a number into an actual eating plan

Your Basal Metabolic Rate is the energy your body burns just to keep you alive — breathing, circulation, cell repair — before you've moved a muscle. It's the biggest single chunk of most people's daily calorie burn, which is why it's the starting point for any calorie target.

      From BMR to TDEE

TDEE adds in everything else: walking around, exercise, even fidgeting. Multiplying BMR by an activity factor is a rough but widely used way to estimate this, since actually measuring daily energy expenditure needs specialised lab equipment most people don't have access to.

      Turning TDEE into a target

      • Eating at TDEE roughly maintains your current weight.
      • A deficit of ~500 kcal/day is a commonly used moderate rate for gradual fat loss.
      • A surplus of ~500 kcal/day supports gradual, controlled weight gain.
      • Very large deficits or surpluses are harder to sustain and are best planned with professional guidance.

Treat the numbers here as a starting estimate — actual results depend on individual metabolism, sleep, stress and many other factors, so it's worth adjusting based on how your weight actually trends over a few weeks.

      FAQ

Calorie & BMR Calculator — frequently asked questions

What formula does this calculator use?+

This tool uses the Mifflin-St Jeor equation, considered one of the more accurate BMR formulas: for men, BMR = 10×weight(kg) + 6.25×height(cm) − 5×age + 5; for women, subtract 161 instead of adding 5.

What is the difference between BMR and TDEE?+

BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate) is the calories your body burns at complete rest just to function. TDEE (Total Daily Energy Expenditure) is your BMR multiplied by an activity factor, giving your actual estimated daily maintenance calories.

How many calories should I eat to lose or gain weight?+

A common, moderate approach is a deficit or surplus of around 500 calories/day from your TDEE, which corresponds to roughly 0.5 kg of weight change per week. Larger deficits or surpluses are best discussed with a doctor or dietitian.

      Guide · Body Fat Calculator

Why body fat percentage tells you more than the scale alone

Two people with the exact same weight and height can have very different body compositions — one carrying more muscle, the other more fat. Body fat percentage separates the two, which is why it's often a more meaningful number than weight or BMI alone for tracking fitness progress.

      How the Navy method works

Developed for military fitness testing where lab equipment wasn't practical, the Navy method uses simple circumference measurements plugged into a logarithmic formula, calibrated against more precise underwater-weighing measurements at the time.

      Typical body fat ranges

      • Men — essential fat 2-5%, athletes 6-13%, fitness 14-17%, acceptable 18-24%, obese 25%+.
      • Women — essential fat 10-13%, athletes 14-20%, fitness 21-24%, acceptable 25-31%, obese 32%+.

Measure at the same time of day and in the same way each time for consistent tracking — body fat trends over weeks matter far more than any single reading.

      FAQ

Body Fat Calculator — frequently asked questions

How does the Navy method estimate body fat?+

It uses circumference measurements — neck and waist for men, plus hip for women — along with height, in a logarithmic formula developed by the U.S. Navy as a low-cost alternative to skinfold calipers or DEXA scans.

      How accurate is this method?+

It's reasonably accurate for most body types, typically within a few percentage points of more precise methods like DEXA scans, but can be less accurate for very muscular or very lean individuals.

      Where exactly should I measure?+

Measure your neck just below the larynx, your waist at the narrowest point (or at the navel), and for women, your hips at the widest point. Use a flexible tape measure, snug but not compressing the skin.

      Guide · Water Intake Calculator

How much water do you actually need each day?

The old "8 glasses a day" rule is a rough, one-size-fits-all number — actual water needs depend heavily on body weight, activity level, climate, and even diet, since fruits and vegetables also contribute meaningful fluid.

Why body weight is the starting point

Larger bodies generally need more water to function, which is why a per-kilogram estimate — around 33 ml per kg — is a more personalised starting point than a flat number that's the same for everyone regardless of size.

Exercise and climate both raise the target

Sweating during exercise or in hot, humid weather increases fluid loss, so both nudge your daily target upward. On an intense workout day in a hot climate, your actual need can be noticeably higher than on a sedentary day indoors with air conditioning.

      • Spread intake through the day rather than drinking it all at once.
      • Urine that's pale yellow is a simple everyday sign of adequate hydration.
      • This estimate covers plain water — tea, coffee, soup and juicy fruits also count toward total daily fluids.
      FAQ

Water Intake Calculator — frequently asked questions

How is daily water intake calculated?+

This calculator uses a common baseline of about 33 ml of water per kilogram of body weight, then adds extra for exercise (roughly 350 ml per 30 minutes) and for hot or humid climates.

Does this include water from food and other drinks?+

No, this estimates plain drinking water specifically. Food and other beverages also contribute to total daily fluid intake, so your actual water needs from drinking alone may be a little lower.

      Is more water always better?+

Not necessarily — drinking far beyond your body's needs doesn't add extra benefit and, in rare extreme cases, excessive water intake can be harmful. Use this as a general daily guide, not a strict minimum to force.

      Guide · HEIC to JPG

Why iPhone photos won't open on Windows or in some apps

Since iOS 11, iPhones save photos as HEIC by default — a format that stores the same image quality in roughly half the file size of a JPG. The catch is that plenty of older software, some Android apps, and many websites still don't recognise it.

When you actually need to convert

If you're uploading a photo to a form that rejects it, sending it to someone on an older Windows PC, or using a tool that only accepts JPG/PNG, converting first saves the back-and-forth.

      • Uploading to websites or portals that only accept JPG/PNG.
      • Sharing with someone on an older device or browser without HEIC support.
      • Editing in software that doesn't support HEIC natively.

This tool decodes the HEIC container and re-encodes it as a standard JPG entirely on your device, so nothing is uploaded to a server in the process.

      FAQ

HEIC to JPG Converter — frequently asked questions

      What is a HEIC file?+

HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) is the default photo format on iPhones since iOS 11. It compresses better than JPG, but many apps, Windows programs and websites don't open it directly.

Is my photo uploaded to a server?+

No, the HEIC decoding and JPG conversion both happen locally in your browser using JavaScript — your photos are never uploaded anywhere.

Can I convert multiple HEIC photos at once?+

Yes, drag and drop or select as many HEIC/HEIF files as you like, and each one is converted and can be downloaded individually or all at once.

Will I lose photo quality converting HEIC to JPG?+

There's a very small quality loss since JPG uses a different compression method than HEIC, but it's converted at high quality (92%) and is visually identical for everyday use.

      Guide · Fuel Cost Calculator

Getting a realistic fuel estimate for any trip

The maths behind fuel cost is simple — distance divided by mileage gives litres needed, and litres multiplied by price gives the total cost — but the accuracy of the result depends entirely on the mileage figure you feed in.

      Rated mileage vs real-world mileage

The mileage printed in a vehicle's brochure is usually measured under controlled test conditions. On actual roads, city traffic, AC use, extra passengers or luggage, and an aggressive driving style can bring real mileage down noticeably, sometimes by 15–25%.

      Getting your own real number

For a more accurate estimate, fill your tank, reset the trip odometer, drive normally until the next fill-up, then divide the distance covered by the litres it took to refill — that's your actual mileage for this calculator.

      • Highway trips generally get closer to rated mileage than city driving.
      • Round trip mode simply doubles the one-way distance before calculating.
      • Re-run the calculation whenever fuel prices change to keep the estimate current.
      FAQ

Fuel Cost Calculator — frequently asked questions

      How is fuel cost calculated?+

Fuel required = distance ÷ mileage. Total cost = fuel required × fuel price per litre. If round trip is selected, the distance is doubled before calculating.

      Where do I find my vehicle's mileage?+

Check your vehicle's manual or brochure for the certified mileage, or calculate your own real-world mileage by dividing the distance travelled by the fuel used on your last full tank.

Does this account for traffic or driving style?+

No, this is a straight-line estimate based on the mileage figure you enter. Heavy traffic, AC use, load and driving style can all lower real-world mileage below the rated figure.

      Guide · Transparent Image Maker

Colour-key transparency vs AI background removal

There are two very different ways to make a background transparent. Colour-key removal, which this tool uses, simply deletes every pixel close to a chosen colour — fast, precise, and ideal when the background is a single flat colour.

      When colour-key works best

      • Logos or icons on a plain white or solid-colour background.
      • Product photos shot against a flat studio backdrop.
      • Scanned line art or documents with a uniform page colour.

When to use AI removal instead

For a photo with a busy, textured or gradient background — like a portrait shot outdoors — an AI model that understands where the subject ends is a better fit than colour matching. Use the Background Remover tool for that case.

The tolerance slider controls how close a pixel's colour needs to be to the one you clicked before it's removed too — raise it to catch soft edges and anti-aliasing, or lower it to protect similar colours inside the subject.

      FAQ

Transparent Image Maker — frequently asked questions

How does this tool decide which pixels become transparent?+

Click anywhere on the image to pick the colour to remove. Every pixel within the chosen tolerance of that colour becomes transparent, so it works best on a flat, solid background colour.

Does this work for photos with complex backgrounds?+

This tool removes one solid colour, so it works best on logos, product shots or scans with a flat background. For photos with a busy or gradient background, use the AI Background Remover instead.

What file format do I get?+

The result downloads as a PNG, since PNG is the format that supports transparency. JPG cannot store transparent pixels.

      Guide · HTML to Image

Why turn HTML into an image

Converting a snippet of HTML and CSS into a flat image is useful whenever you need a design to render consistently everywhere — social media cards, email banners, blog thumbnails or chart snapshots don't always support live HTML, but every platform accepts a PNG or JPG.

      Common uses

      • Turning a styled quote or stat card into a shareable social media image.
      • Generating a preview thumbnail for a coded UI component or email template.
      • Capturing a styled receipt, certificate or badge as a downloadable image.

      FAQ

HTML to Image — frequently asked questions

Does this support CSS and images inside the HTML?+

Yes, you can include inline <style> blocks, inline styles, and images with public URLs. External stylesheets loaded via <link> won't be fetched, so keep CSS inline for reliable results.

Is my HTML sent to a server to render?+

No, the HTML is rendered in a sandboxed frame and captured as an image entirely inside your browser. Nothing is uploaded anywhere.

Why does my downloaded image look slightly different from the preview?+

Capture relies on your browser rendering the HTML the same way it renders any webpage, so unusual CSS (custom fonts not loaded, video, or certain animations) may not appear exactly. Keep fonts web-safe or loaded via Google Fonts for best results.

How to Calculate CGPA from SGPA (With Formula & Examples)

If your college follows the 10-point grading system, your CGPA isn't just an average of your semester SGPAs — it's a credit-weighted average. Skip a semester with more credits in the math and your CGPA will be off. Here's exactly how it works.

SGPA vs CGPA — what's the difference?

SGPA (Semester Grade Point Average) reflects how you performed in a single semester, based on the credits and grade points of the subjects you took that term.

CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) combines the SGPA of every semester you've completed so far into one overall number, weighted by how many credits each semester carried.

      The CGPA formula

Most Indian engineering colleges use this credit-weighted formula:

      CGPA = (SGPA₁ × Credits₁ + SGPA₂ × Credits₂ + ... ) ÷ (Credits₁ + Credits₂ + ...)

In other words: multiply each semester's SGPA by that semester's total credits, add those up, then divide by the total credits across all semesters. A semester with more credits pulls your CGPA towards it more strongly than a lighter semester.

      Worked example

      Say you've completed three semesters:

      • Semester 1: SGPA 8.2, with 22 credits
      • Semester 2: SGPA 7.6, with 24 credits
      • Semester 3: SGPA 8.8, with 20 credits

      First, multiply each SGPA by its credits: 8.2 × 22 = 180.4, 7.6 × 24 = 182.4, and 8.8 × 20 = 176. Add these together to get 538.8. Then add up the total credits: 22 + 24 + 20 = 66. Finally divide 538.8 by 66, which gives a CGPA of roughly 8.16.

Notice this isn't the same as a simple average of 8.2, 7.6 and 8.8 (which would be 8.2) — the credit-weighting shifts the result because Semester 2 carried the most credits and had the lowest SGPA.

      Common mistakes students make

      • Averaging SGPAs directly without weighting by credits — this only works if every semester has exactly the same total credits.
      • Using the wrong grade scale. Most Indian universities use O=10, A+=9, A=8, B+=7, B=6, C=5, D=4, F=0 — but always check your own institution's scheme first.
      • Forgetting backlog subjects. If a subject was cleared later, some universities recompute the SGPA of that semester — check your official transcript rules.
      • Converting to percentage incorrectly. A common approximation is Percentage = (CGPA − 0.75) × 10, but not every university uses this exact formula.

Rather than doing this by hand every semester, our SGPA & CGPA Calculator does the credit-weighting automatically — just add each semester's SGPA and credits and it works out your CGPA instantly.

      Frequently asked questions

How do I convert my CGPA to a percentage?+

A widely used approximation is Percentage = (CGPA − 0.75) × 10. Many universities follow this exact formula, but some use their own conversion — always confirm with your institution for official purposes like placements or higher studies applications.

What if my university uses a different grading scale?+

The credit-weighting logic stays the same — only the grade-point values change. Check your institution's official grading scheme and substitute those values into the same formula.

Does CGPA reset every year, or is it cumulative across all semesters?+

CGPA is always cumulative — it factors in every completed semester from the first year onward, not just the current academic year.

75% Attendance Rule Explained: How Many Classes Can You Bunk

Almost every Indian college enforces a minimum attendance rule before you're allowed to sit for exams. Here's why it exists, the exact math behind "safe to bunk" vs "must attend," and what happens if you slip below the line.

      Why is 75% the standard?

Most AICTE-affiliated engineering colleges and universities in India require students to maintain at least 75% attendance per subject (or overall, depending on the institution) to be eligible for semester exams. Some colleges allow a bit of flexibility through "condonation" for medical or other genuine reasons, but the default cutoff is almost always 75%.

      The math behind it

      Attendance percentage is simply:

      Attendance % = (Classes Attended ÷ Total Classes Held) × 100

The tricky part is working out how many future classes you can miss (or must attend) while still landing at or above 75% by the end of the term — because both the "attended" and "total" numbers keep changing as more classes happen.

To find how many more classes you can safely skip, colleges (and our calculator) solve for the number of additional classes x such that: Attended ÷ (Total + x) ≥ 0.75, assuming you attend none of the remaining x. To find how many you must attend if you're short, it solves for the number of classes you need to attend consecutively, with no further misses, until your ratio climbs back to 0.75.

      Worked example

Say 80 classes have been held so far and you've attended 65 of them.

      • Current attendance: 65 ÷ 80 = 81.25% — comfortably above 75%.
      • How many can you bunk? You can miss up to roughly 6 more classes in a row before your attendance dips to exactly 75%.

Now flip it: if you'd attended only 55 of those 80 classes (68.75%), you'd be below the cutoff and would need to attend a stretch of upcoming classes back-to-back — with zero further misses — for your percentage to climb back to 75%.

What happens if you fall below 75%?

      • Detention from exams: Many colleges bar students from sitting for semester exams if attendance falls below the required threshold.
      • Condonation requests: Some institutions allow a formal request — usually backed by a medical certificate or valid documentation — to bring the requirement down slightly (e.g. to 65-70%).
      • Repeating the semester: In stricter cases, insufficient attendance can mean repeating the entire semester, regardless of your academic performance.

Rules vary by college, so always check your own institution's attendance policy — this is general guidance, not an official rule.

Instead of doing this math every week, our Attendance Calculator instantly tells you exactly how many classes you can bunk or need to attend to hit your target.

      Frequently asked questions

Does the 75% rule apply per subject or overall?+

It depends on the college — some enforce 75% for every individual subject, while others look at your overall attendance across all subjects combined. Check your institution's specific policy.

Can I get an exemption if I'm below 75%?+

Many colleges offer condonation for genuine reasons like medical emergencies, usually with supporting documents submitted through a formal process. This isn't guaranteed and varies by institution.

How is "classes I can bunk" different from a simple average?+

It accounts for the fact that skipped classes also increase the total class count, not just lower your attended count — so the safe-to-miss number is usually smaller than a quick mental estimate.

GST Calculator: How to Add or Remove GST From Any Amount

Whether you're pricing a product, checking an invoice, or reverse-calculating a bill that already includes tax, GST math follows a couple of simple formulas. Here's how it works.

Quick primer: CGST vs SGST vs IGST

For a sale within the same state, GST is split equally into CGST (paid to the central government) and SGST (paid to the state government) — each exactly half of the total GST rate. For a sale between two different states, the full amount is instead charged as a single IGST. Either way, the total tax collected is the same — only how it's divided changes.

Formula: Adding GST to an amount

If your amount excludes tax and you need the final price:

      Final Amount = Original Amount × (1 + GST Rate ÷ 100)

Formula: Removing GST from an amount

If your amount already includes tax (say, a bill total) and you need to find the original, tax-exclusive price hidden inside it, you work backwards:

      Original Amount = Final Amount ÷ (1 + GST Rate ÷ 100)

This is the step people usually get wrong — dividing the final amount by the rate directly (e.g. just taking 18% off the total) understates the original amount, because the tax was calculated on the smaller, tax-exclusive base, not on the final total.

      Worked example at 18% GST

Adding GST: An item priced at ₹1,000 (excluding tax) at 18% GST becomes 1,000 × 1.18 = ₹1,180. Of the ₹180 tax, ₹90 is CGST and ₹90 is SGST for an intra-state sale.

Removing GST: If a bill shows a final amount of ₹1,180 (including 18% GST), the original amount is 1,180 ÷ 1.18 = ₹1,000, with ₹180 as the tax component — not 1,180 × 0.82, which would give the wrong figure.

Our GST Calculator handles both directions instantly — just enter the amount, pick a slab (5%, 12%, 18%, 28%, or a custom rate), and choose Add or Remove.

      Frequently asked questions

Which GST rate should I use for my product or service?+

India's common GST slabs are 5%, 12%, 18% and 28%, depending on the category of goods or service. Check your invoice or the official GST rate schedule if you're unsure.

When does IGST apply instead of CGST + SGST?+

IGST applies to inter-state sales — when the buyer and seller are in different states. CGST and SGST apply to intra-state sales within the same state. The total tax amount is identical either way.

Why can't I just subtract the GST percentage from the final amount?+

Because the tax was originally calculated on the smaller, pre-tax amount — not on the final total. Subtracting the percentage directly from the final amount always understates the true original price.

Passport Photo Size for India: Rules, Dimensions & How to Get It Right

A passport photo that's the wrong size or background colour is one of the most common reasons applications get sent back. Here's exactly what Indian passport, visa and ID photo rules require.

      Official size and background requirements

For most Indian passport and visa applications, the required photo size is 3.5 × 4.5 cm, with a plain white or light-coloured background, a front-facing pose, and a neutral expression with both ears visible. The face should be centred and take up a significant portion of the frame — not too zoomed in or too far away.

      Common rejection reasons

      • Wrong background colour — coloured, patterned, or shadowed backgrounds are usually rejected in favour of plain white or light grey.
      • Incorrect cropping — the face isn't centred, or the photo doesn't match the exact required dimensions.
      • Low resolution — printed photos need to be sharp at 300 DPI; blurry or pixelated prints are commonly rejected.
      • Accessories or expression issues — glasses with glare, hats, or a non-neutral expression can all cause rejection.

Passport vs PAN card vs visa photo sizes

These requirements differ slightly by document and destination country:

      • Indian Passport / Visa / OCI: 3.5 × 4.5 cm
      • PAN Card: 2.5 × 3.5 cm
      • US Passport / Visa: 2 × 2 inches
      • UK / Schengen Visa: 3.5 × 4.5 cm
      • Canada Passport: 5 × 7 cm

Always double-check the exact current requirement of the office or embassy you're applying to before submitting, since rules can be updated.

How to get a compliant photo at home

      1. Take a clear, front-facing photo against a plain wall or sheet in good, even lighting.
      2. If the background isn't clean, remove it and swap in solid white or light grey first.
      3. Crop the photo to the exact size required for your document, keeping your face centred.
      4. Print at 300 DPI, either as a single photo or a full sheet of copies to save a trip to the photo shop.

Our Passport Photo Maker handles the cropping and sheet layout for India, US, UK, Canada and China formats — pair it with our Remove Background tool first if your background needs cleaning up.

      Frequently asked questions

Can I use a photo taken on my phone?+

Yes, as long as it's well-lit, sharp, and front-facing against a plain background. Avoid heavy filters, shadows, or angled shots.

What DPI is required for printing?+

300 DPI is the standard for passport-style photo prints, which keeps the image sharp at the small physical size required.

Do I need to remove the background myself?+

Only if your original photo has a busy or coloured background. A background removal tool can swap it for plain white before you crop to the final passport size.

How to Compress Images Without Losing Quality

Big photos slow down your website, fill up your phone storage, and bounce off email attachment limits. The good news is that most images can be shrunk by 60-90% with no visible difference to the human eye — you just need to know what's actually being thrown away.

      Lossy vs lossless compression

Lossy compression (used by JPG) permanently discards some image data — usually detail in areas the eye is less sensitive to, like subtle colour gradients. Done well, you can remove 70-80% of the file size before anyone notices.

Lossless compression (used by PNG) only removes redundant data, so the image is pixel-for-pixel identical afterwards — but the file size savings are smaller, typically 20-40%.

      How much compression is safe?

As a rule of thumb for JPGs: quality settings between 70-85% are visually indistinguishable from the original for most photos, while cutting file size by half or more. Below 60%, you'll start to see blocky artefacts around sharp edges and text.

      • Website images: aim for under 200KB per image for fast page loads.
      • Email attachments: most providers cap attachments at 25MB total.
      • Social media uploads: platforms re-compress anyway, so there's no benefit uploading a huge original — compress first and save your own bandwidth.

      Choosing the right format first

Compression only gets you so far if you're using the wrong format to begin with. Photos with lots of colour detail compress best as JPG. Screenshots, logos, and images with flat colours or text compress far better as PNG — sometimes ending up smaller than an equivalent JPG despite being lossless.

      Frequently asked questions

Will compressing an image ruin its quality?+

Not if you keep quality settings above roughly 70%. Most viewers can't tell the difference between an original photo and one compressed to 70-85% quality, even though the file size can drop by half or more.

What's the best format for compressing photos?+

JPG for photographs and anything with lots of natural colour variation. PNG for screenshots, graphics, and images with flat colours or transparency, since lossy compression tends to blur sharp edges and text.

Does compressing an image reduce its pixel dimensions?+

No — compression reduces file size by optimising how colour data is stored, not by changing the image's width or height. If you also want smaller dimensions, use a resize tool alongside compression.

      Guide · Image Tools

How to Resize Images to Exact Pixel Dimensions

Whether you need a profile picture at exactly 400×400px or a banner at a specific width, resizing an image the wrong way can leave it stretched, squashed, or blurry. Here's how to do it properly.

      Why aspect ratio matters

Aspect ratio is the relationship between an image's width and height (e.g. 4:3, 16:9, 1:1). If you resize width and height independently without keeping this ratio locked, the image will look stretched or squashed. Most resize tools offer a "lock aspect ratio" toggle — keep it on unless you specifically need to distort the image.

Common size presets you'll actually need

      • Passport / ID photo: typically 2×2 inches or 35×45mm depending on country.
      • Instagram post: 1080×1080px (square) or 1080×1350px (portrait).
      • LinkedIn profile photo: 400×400px.
      • YouTube thumbnail: 1280×720px.
      • Website hero banner: commonly 1920×1080px or 1600×900px.

      A note on upscaling

Making an image larger than its original resolution doesn't add real detail — it just stretches existing pixels, which is why upscaled images often look soft or blurry. If you need a genuinely sharp larger image, you need a higher-resolution source, not just a bigger canvas.

      Frequently asked questions

Will resizing an image blur it?+

Shrinking an image rarely causes visible blur. Enlarging it beyond its original resolution can, because the tool has to invent extra pixels rather than reveal real detail.

Should I resize before or after compressing?+

Resize first. A smaller image naturally has a smaller file size, so compressing afterwards squeezes out even more savings without unnecessary quality loss along the way.

What's the difference between resizing and cropping?+

Resizing scales the whole image up or down while keeping all of it visible. Cropping cuts away parts of the image to change its framing or aspect ratio — the two are often used together.

      Guide · Image Tools

How to Crop Photos to the Right Aspect Ratio

Cropping is one of the fastest ways to improve a photo — removing distracting edges, fixing framing, or fitting an exact aspect ratio a platform demands. Here's how to do it well.

Match the aspect ratio to where it's going

      • 1:1 (square): Instagram feed posts, profile photos.
      • 4:5 (portrait): Instagram portrait posts — takes up more feed space than square.
      • 16:9 (widescreen): YouTube thumbnails, presentation slides, website banners.
      • 3:2 or 4:3: standard photo prints and DSLR camera output.

Cropping to the platform's native ratio avoids it being auto-cropped (and potentially cutting off faces or text) after you upload.

      Composition: the rule of thirds

Imagine your photo divided into a 3×3 grid. Placing the main subject along one of the grid lines — rather than dead centre — usually makes a crop feel more intentional and balanced. When cropping portraits, avoid cropping exactly at a joint (like the neck or knee); crop slightly above or below instead.

      Watch your resolution after cropping

Cropping removes pixels, which lowers the image's total resolution. A tight crop on a low-resolution photo can leave you with an image too small for its intended use — check the final pixel dimensions before using a cropped image for print or a large banner.

      Frequently asked questions

      Does cropping reduce image quality?+

Cropping itself doesn't degrade the remaining pixels, but it does reduce total resolution since you're removing part of the image — so a heavily cropped photo may end up too small for large prints or banners.

What aspect ratio should I use for social media?+

1:1 or 4:5 for Instagram feed posts, 9:16 for Stories and Reels, and 16:9 for YouTube thumbnails and most video platforms.

Can I crop a photo without losing the parts I removed?+

Once you crop and save/export, the removed areas are gone from that file. Keep your original uncropped image saved separately if you might need the full frame again later.

Image Format Guide: JPG vs PNG vs WebP

Every image format makes a different trade-off between file size, quality, and transparency support. Picking the wrong one is one of the most common (and easily fixed) web performance mistakes.

JPG vs PNG vs WebP at a glance

      • JPG: best for photos. Small file size, lossy compression, no transparency support.
      • PNG: best for screenshots, logos, and graphics with text or flat colour. Lossless, supports transparency, but larger file sizes for photos.
      • WebP: a modern format that generally beats both — smaller than JPG at the same quality, and supports transparency like PNG. The only downside is a handful of very old apps or tools that don't support it yet.

When you actually need to convert

Convert to PNG when you need a transparent background (e.g. a logo over a coloured banner). Convert to JPG when a platform or form specifically requires it and won't accept PNG or WebP. Convert to WebP when you control the destination (like your own website) and want the smallest possible file size without a visible quality drop.

      A note on transparency

If you convert a PNG with a transparent background to JPG, the transparent areas will be filled in with a solid colour (usually white or black) because JPG has no concept of transparency. Keep transparent images in PNG or WebP.

      Frequently asked questions

      Which image format is smallest?+

WebP is usually the smallest for a given visual quality, followed by JPG for photos. PNG is the largest for photographic content but the best choice when you need transparency or lossless quality.

Can I convert PNG to JPG without losing the transparent background?+

No — JPG doesn't support transparency, so any transparent area gets filled with a solid background colour during conversion. Use PNG or WebP if you need to keep transparency.

Is WebP safe to use everywhere?+

Nearly all modern browsers and platforms support WebP today. The main exception is older desktop software (some image editors, older Windows Photo Viewer versions) that may need a JPG or PNG instead.

How to Remove Image Backgrounds for Free

Removing a background used to mean hours in Photoshop with the pen tool. Automated background removal now handles most everyday photos in seconds — but a few things about your source photo make a big difference to the result.

      How automatic background removal works

Background removal tools use an image-segmentation model to identify which pixels belong to the main subject (a person, product, or object) versus the background, then make the background pixels transparent. The output is saved as a PNG, since JPG doesn't support transparency.

What makes a photo easy or hard to cut out

      • Easy: a clear subject with good contrast against the background, sharp focus, even lighting.
      • Harder: fine detail like flyaway hair, fur, or lace; motion blur; a background that's a similar colour to the subject; low lighting.

If your first result has rough edges around hair or fingers, a photo with better contrast and lighting usually fixes it — the tool, not the process, is rarely the limitation.

      After you remove the background

Once the background is transparent, you can drop the subject onto a new background, a solid colour, or leave it transparent for use in logos and product listings. Keep the file as PNG (or WebP) to preserve the transparency — converting to JPG will fill it with a solid colour.

      Frequently asked questions

      Is background removal actually free?+

Yes for basic single-image cutouts using browser-based tools — there's no need to pay for desktop software just to remove a background from a product photo or portrait.

Why does my cutout have rough edges around the hair?+

Fine detail like hair, fur, or lace is the hardest thing for any background removal tool (automatic or manual) to isolate perfectly. Better lighting and contrast against the background usually gives a cleaner edge.

What file format should I save a background-removed image as?+

PNG or WebP — both support transparency. Saving as JPG will fill the transparent area with a solid background colour, undoing the removal.

How to Watermark Photos to Protect Your Work

A watermark won't stop determined image theft, but it does two useful things: it discourages casual re-use, and it keeps your name attached to your work as it gets shared. Here's how to do it without wrecking the photo.

      Why photographers and creators watermark

A visible watermark signals ownership at a glance, which matters most for content likely to be screenshotted or reposted — portfolio shots, social media graphics, stock-style photography, and marketing images. It also functions as free advertising: anyone who shares the image is sharing your name or handle along with it.

      Placement and opacity

      • Corner placement (bottom-right is most common) is least distracting but also easiest to crop out.
      • Diagonal, semi-transparent watermarks across the image are harder to remove but more visually intrusive — better suited to preview/proof images than final deliverables.
      • Opacity around 40-60% keeps a watermark legible without overpowering the photo underneath.

A text watermark (your name, handle, or website) is quick to set up and instantly identifies you. A logo watermark looks more polished and professional once you have a settled brand mark, and is harder to casually replicate. Many creators use both — a logo mark plus a small handle.

      Frequently asked questions

Does a watermark stop people from stealing my photos?+

It won't stop determined theft (a watermark can be cropped or edited out), but it does deter casual re-use and keeps your name visible when the image is shared or screenshotted.

Where's the best place to put a watermark?+

Bottom corner for a subtle, professional look on final images; a larger semi-transparent diagonal mark for proofs or previews you don't want reused before payment or approval.

Should a watermark be fully opaque?+

Usually not — 40-60% opacity keeps it legible as a mark of ownership without distracting from the photo itself.

How to Make a Meme in Under a Minute

Memes live and die by their format. The words matter, but so does following the visual conventions people expect — get those wrong and even a funny caption falls flat.

      The classic meme format

The traditional meme layout uses bold white text with a black outline, in all caps, positioned at the top and/or bottom of the image — originally in Impact font. It's instantly recognisable and still the safest default for reaction memes and classic templates.

      Caption tips that actually help

      • Keep the top caption short — it's usually the setup, and long lines wrap awkwardly.
      • Put the punchline at the bottom, and keep it punchier than the setup.
      • Leave the subject's face unobstructed — text over eyes or mouth reads as a mistake, not a choice.

      Sizing for where you're posting

Square (1:1) works best for Instagram and most group chats. If you're posting to X/Twitter or Reddit, a wider image (roughly 4:5 or 16:9) tends to display without awkward cropping in the feed preview.

      Frequently asked questions

What font do memes traditionally use?+

Impact — bold, condensed, all-caps white text with a black outline is the classic meme look, though many modern memes use simpler sans-serif fonts too.

      Where should meme text go?+

Top and bottom, framing the image, with the setup on top and the punchline on the bottom — leaving the subject's face and key visual details unobstructed in the middle.

What image size is best for memes?+

Square (1:1) is safest for most platforms and group chats; use roughly 4:5 or 16:9 if you know it's headed to a platform with a wide feed preview.

How to Convert JPG Images to PDF

Converting images to PDF is one of the most common small tasks in offices and colleges alike — bundling scanned pages, receipts, or photos of documents into one shareable file instead of a folder of loose images.

Why convert images to PDF at all

A PDF keeps multiple images together in a fixed order as a single file — much easier to email, print, or submit than a folder of separate JPGs. It also displays consistently across devices, unlike images which can open in different apps with different default zoom levels.

      Getting the page order right

Most JPG-to-PDF tools convert images in the order you upload or select them, so it helps to name your files sequentially first (e.g. page-01.jpg, page-02.jpg) if you're combining scans or photos of multiple pages — that way the upload order matches the file names and nothing ends up out of sequence.

      Page size and orientation

Most tools default to fitting each image to a standard page size (A4 or Letter) while preserving its aspect ratio, adding white space around images that don't match the page's proportions exactly. If your images are landscape (wider than tall), check whether the tool rotates the page automatically, or you may end up with a small image on an oddly-oriented page.

      Frequently asked questions

Can I combine multiple JPGs into one PDF?+

Yes — most JPG to PDF tools let you select several images at once and combine them into a single multi-page PDF, in the order you add them.

Does converting JPG to PDF reduce image quality?+

A well-built converter embeds the image at its original resolution, so there's no additional quality loss purely from the format conversion itself.

What page size should I use?+

A4 is the standard choice for most of the world; use Letter if the PDF is headed to the US or Canada, since that's their standard paper size.

How to Convert PDF Pages to JPG Images

Sometimes you need a PDF's content as an actual image — to drop a page into a slide deck, post it on social media, or open it somewhere that doesn't handle PDFs well. Here's what to know before converting.

      When you actually need PDF-to-JPG

      • Posting a document page to social media or a messaging app that doesn't preview PDFs well.
      • Dropping a page into a slide deck or design tool as a static image.
      • Creating a thumbnail preview of a document.

If you just need to share the file itself, keep it as a PDF — converting to images loses selectable text and generally increases total file size for text-heavy documents.

Resolution matters more than you'd think

A PDF page rendered at low resolution turns into a blurry, pixelated image — especially noticeable with text. Look for a resolution/DPI setting; 150 DPI is fine for on-screen viewing, while 300 DPI is the standard for anything you might print.

Multi-page PDFs export as multiple images

Each page of a PDF becomes its own separate image file when converted — a 10-page PDF becomes 10 JPGs, typically bundled into a ZIP for download. If you only need one specific page, most tools let you select just that page instead of exporting the whole document.

      Frequently asked questions

Does converting PDF to JPG keep the text selectable?+

No — once a page is rendered as an image, the text becomes part of the picture and is no longer selectable or searchable. Keep the original PDF if you need editable or searchable text.

      What resolution should I use?+

150 DPI is enough for screens and social media; use 300 DPI if the image might be printed, since lower resolutions look noticeably blurry on paper.

Can I convert just one page of a multi-page PDF?+

Yes, most tools let you pick specific pages to export rather than converting the entire document into a batch of images.

How to Merge Multiple PDFs Into One File

Merging PDFs is one of those tasks that comes up constantly — combining scanned forms, joining chapters of a report, or bundling invoices into one file for a single email attachment.

Getting the order right before you merge

Most merge tools combine files in the order you add or arrange them, often with drag-to-reorder once uploaded. Before merging, double check the sequence — it's much easier to fix beforehand than to re-do the merge afterwards.

      Common reasons people merge PDFs

      • Combining a cover letter and resume into one file for a job application.
      • Joining scanned pages of a signed contract into a single document.
      • Bundling multiple invoices or receipts for expense reporting.
      • Assembling chapters or sections of a report written separately.

What happens to file size after merging

Merging doesn't compress anything — the combined file's size is roughly the sum of the originals. If the merged PDF ends up too large to email, run it through a PDF compressor afterwards to shrink it back down.

      Frequently asked questions

Can I reorder pages after merging PDFs?+

It depends on the tool — some merge tools let you drag files into the right order before merging, while reordering pages after the fact usually needs a separate PDF page-organiser tool.

      Does merging PDFs reduce quality?+

No, merging simply combines the existing pages as-is, without re-compressing or altering their content or resolution.

Is there a limit to how many PDFs I can merge?+

Browser-based tools typically handle a reasonable number of files without issue, though very large batches or huge combined file sizes may take longer to process.

How to Compress a PDF Without Losing Quality

A PDF that won't fit in an email attachment is almost always bloated by its images, not its text. Understanding what's taking up the space makes it much easier to compress the file down sensibly.

What actually makes a PDF large

Text itself takes up almost no space — a 50-page text document might only be a few hundred KB. The bulk of a large PDF's size almost always comes from embedded images: scanned pages, high-resolution photos, or screenshots pasted into the document at full size.

      How PDF compression works

A PDF compressor re-compresses the embedded images (similar to reducing JPG quality) and can also strip unnecessary embedded fonts, metadata, and duplicate resources. Text and vector graphics stay sharp regardless of the compression level — only the raster images are affected.

      Choosing a compression level

      • Light compression: best for documents you might print, keeps images near-original quality.
      • Medium compression: good default for emailing and general sharing.
      • Strong compression: use only when file size is critical (e.g. tight upload limits) — image quality becomes noticeably softer.

      Frequently asked questions

Why is my PDF so large if it's mostly text?+

It's almost always the embedded images — scanned pages or high-resolution photos — that bloat a PDF's file size, not the text itself, which takes up very little space.

Will compressing a PDF affect the text quality?+

No, text and vector elements stay crisp regardless of compression level. Only embedded raster images are compressed, similar to how JPG compression works.

      What's a safe compression level for a PDF I need to print?+

Use light or medium compression for anything headed to print — strong compression noticeably softens embedded images, which becomes more visible on paper than on screen.

How to Convert Word Documents to PDF

A Word document is great for editing, but a poor choice for sharing a finished version — formatting can shift between different versions of Word, fonts, or operating systems. PDF fixes that.

Why send a PDF instead of a .docx file

      • Formatting stays fixed — a PDF looks identical on every device, unlike a Word file which can reflow if the recipient doesn't have the same fonts installed.
      • Prevents accidental edits — recipients can view but not easily alter a PDF.
      • Universally viewable — no need for Microsoft Word or a compatible app to open it.

What can go wrong in the conversion

Complex layouts — multi-column text, floating images, unusual fonts, or embedded objects like spreadsheets — are the most likely things to shift slightly during conversion. Simple, single-column documents with standard fonts convert cleanly almost every time.

Before you send the final PDF

Always open the converted PDF and skim through it once before sending — check page breaks landed where expected, images didn't shift, and any tables didn't get cut off awkwardly across pages.

      Frequently asked questions

Why should I convert to PDF instead of just sending the Word file?+

PDF locks in formatting so the document looks the same for every recipient regardless of their device, operating system, or installed fonts — a Word file can reflow or look different depending on the reader's setup.

Will my document's formatting stay exactly the same after converting?+

Simple documents with standard fonts convert cleanly. Complex layouts with multiple columns, unusual fonts, or embedded objects have a higher chance of small shifts, so it's worth checking the output before sending.

Can I edit a PDF after converting from Word?+

PDFs are much harder to edit than Word documents by design. If you need to make more changes, it's usually easier to edit the original Word file and re-convert rather than editing the PDF directly.

How to Convert Excel Spreadsheets to PDF

Spreadsheets are built for editing, not sharing — cell references, formula bars, and endless columns don't belong in a document you're sending to someone else. Converting to PDF gives you a clean, fixed, printable version.

Why convert a spreadsheet to PDF at all

A PDF version of a spreadsheet is easier to email, print, and view on any device without requiring Excel or Google Sheets. It also freezes the data at a point in time — useful for invoices, reports, or anything you don't want the recipient to accidentally edit.

      The wide-sheet problem

The most common issue converting Excel to PDF is a sheet that's wider than a standard page, causing columns to split awkwardly across multiple pages. Before converting, check your print area and consider a landscape orientation, or scale-to-fit settings, to keep all columns on one page width.

      Handling multiple sheets/tabs

If your workbook has several tabs, most converters turn each sheet into its own section or page range in the resulting PDF, in the same order the tabs appear in the workbook — worth checking the order and hiding any tabs you don't want included beforehand.

      Frequently asked questions

Why do my Excel columns get cut off across pages in the PDF?+

This happens when the sheet is wider than the printable page area. Switching to landscape orientation or using a scale-to-fit setting before converting usually keeps all columns on a single page width.

Does converting to PDF keep my formulas?+

The PDF shows the calculated values, not the underlying formulas — a PDF is a static snapshot, not an editable spreadsheet, so formulas aren't preserved or visible.

Will all my sheet tabs be included in the PDF?+

Most converters include every visible tab by default, each becoming its own page or section in the output — hide any tabs you don't want included before converting.

How to Password Protect or Unlock a PDF

PDF password protection comes in two different flavours that get confused a lot — knowing which one you're dealing with makes securing or unlocking a file much less frustrating.

Two different kinds of PDF password

      • Open password (user password): required just to view the file at all — without it, the PDF won't open in any reader.
      • Permissions password (owner password): the file opens freely, but this password is needed to change restrictions like printing, copying text, or editing.

Adding a password to a PDF

When protecting a sensitive PDF (contracts, financial documents, ID copies), an open password is the stronger option since it blocks viewing entirely without the correct password. Use a password you can share securely with the intended recipient — a locked file is only useful if the right person can still open it.

      Frequently asked questions

Can I remove a password from any PDF?+

You can only legitimately remove a password from a PDF you own or are authorised to unlock — you'll need to know the existing password to open and re-save it without protection.

What's the difference between an open password and a permissions password?+

An open password is required just to view the file at all. A permissions password lets the file open freely but restricts actions like printing or editing unless that second password is provided.

Is PDF password protection strong encryption?+

Modern PDF tools use standard AES encryption behind the password, which is genuinely secure — the main risk is usually a weak, guessable password rather than the encryption itself.

How to Convert Markdown to Word, PDF or HTML

Markdown is the plain-text formatting language behind READMEs, technical docs, and note-taking apps — quick to write, but you'll eventually need to turn it into a properly formatted document to share with someone who doesn't use Markdown.

      A 60-second Markdown refresher

      • # Heading → a top-level heading (more #'s = smaller heading)
      • **bold**bold, *italic*italic
      • - item → bullet list
      • [text](url) → a hyperlink

Why convert instead of just sending the .md file

Most people outside software and technical writing don't have a Markdown viewer, so a raw .md file just looks like plain text with stray symbols scattered through it. Converting to Word or PDF renders the headings, bold text, and lists properly for any reader.

Word, PDF, or HTML — which to pick

Choose PDF for a final, fixed document to share or print. Choose Word if the recipient needs to edit or comment on the content further. Choose HTML if you're publishing it directly to a website or blog.

      Frequently asked questions

Why does my Markdown file look like plain text with symbols in it?+

That's expected — a raw .md file only becomes properly formatted once it's rendered by a Markdown-aware viewer or converted into a formatted document like Word, PDF, or HTML.

Will tables and code blocks convert correctly?+

Standard Markdown tables and fenced code blocks generally convert cleanly to Word and PDF, though very complex nested formatting is worth double-checking after conversion.

Which format should I convert to for sharing a report?+

PDF for a finished document meant to be read as-is; Word if the recipient needs to edit or leave comments on it.

How to Create a Professional Invoice in Minutes

A good invoice does one job well: it gets you paid on time, without back-and-forth emails asking what something means. Here's what belongs on every invoice, and what trips people up.

      What every invoice needs

      • A unique invoice number (see below on numbering).
      • Your business name, address, and contact details.
      • The client's name and billing details.
      • Invoice date and payment due date.
      • An itemised list of goods/services, quantities, and rates.
      • Subtotal, any applicable tax (e.g. GST), and the total amount due.
      • Your payment details (bank account, UPI ID, or payment link).

      Numbering your invoices sensibly

Use a sequential, consistent format like INV-2026-001 rather than random numbers — this makes it easy for both you and your client to reference a specific invoice later, and makes your own bookkeeping and tax filing far simpler at year-end.

      Getting paid faster

Set a clear due date (e.g. "Due within 15 days") rather than leaving it open-ended, and state your accepted payment methods directly on the invoice. Invoices that require the client to ask "how do I pay you?" consistently take longer to get settled.

      Frequently asked questions

What information is legally required on an invoice?+

Requirements vary by country, but almost everywhere you'll need a unique invoice number, your business details, the client's details, an itemised description of goods or services, the date, and the total amount due — plus any applicable tax breakdown.

How should I number my invoices?+

Use a consistent, sequential format such as INV-2026-001 rather than random numbers, so invoices are easy to reference and your records stay organised over time.

Should I include a due date on every invoice?+

Yes — a specific due date (rather than leaving payment terms open-ended) noticeably speeds up how quickly clients pay.

How to Build a Resume That Passes ATS Screening

Most resumes are read by software before they're read by a person. An Applicant Tracking System (ATS) scans your resume for keywords and structure before a recruiter ever opens it — and some formatting choices quietly break that scan.

      What an ATS actually does

An ATS parses your resume's text, extracts sections like work experience and education, and checks it against keywords from the job description. Resumes that don't parse cleanly — or that are missing keywords the recruiter searched for — often never reach a human reviewer at all, regardless of how qualified the candidate actually is.

Formatting choices that can break the scan

      • Text inside images or graphics — an ATS usually can't read text embedded in a logo, icon, or infographic-style resume.
      • Multi-column layouts — some parsers read across columns instead of down them, scrambling the order of your experience.
      • Tables used for layout rather than data can confuse text extraction.
      • Unusual section headings — stick to standard ones like "Work Experience" and "Education" rather than creative alternatives an ATS may not recognise.

Matching keywords from the job description

Read the job posting and mirror the exact terms it uses for skills and tools (e.g. if it says "project management," use that phrase rather than a synonym like "leading initiatives") — ATS keyword matching is often literal, not conceptual.

      Frequently asked questions

What is an ATS and why does it matter?+

An Applicant Tracking System is software that scans and ranks resumes before a human recruiter sees them, checking for keyword matches and readable structure — a resume that doesn't parse well can get filtered out automatically.

      Should I use a fancy, graphic-heavy resume template?+

Generally no if you're applying through an online portal — heavy graphics, multi-column layouts, and text inside images often don't parse correctly in an ATS, even if they look great to a human.

How do I make sure I include the right keywords?+

Mirror the specific terms used in the job description for skills, tools, and job titles, rather than paraphrasing them — ATS keyword matching is typically literal.

How to Create a QR Code for Anything

QR codes look simple, but a poorly made one fails to scan more often than you'd think. Here's how they work and how to make one that's reliable in the real world.

What you can put in a QR code

      • A website URL — the most common use.
      • Plain text or a message.
      • Wi-Fi network credentials, so scanning connects a phone automatically.
      • A phone number or pre-filled SMS.
      • Contact details (vCard) that save directly to a phone's contacts.
      • A UPI or payment link.

Why QR codes fail to scan

      • Too small when printed — a code that's crisp on screen can become unreadable when shrunk down for a business card or flyer.
      • Low contrast — QR codes need strong contrast between the code and its background; light grey on white is a common mistake.
      • Damaged or obscured corners — the three corner squares are used for orientation, so covering them with a logo or decoration can break the scan.

Always test before printing at scale

Scan your QR code with two or three different phones before sending it to print on a large batch of flyers or packaging — it's a five-second check that avoids a costly reprint if something about the size or contrast doesn't scan reliably.

      Frequently asked questions

      Do QR codes expire?+

A static QR code (the content is baked directly into the pattern) never expires and works forever. Only dynamic QR codes that redirect through a third-party service can stop working if that service is discontinued.

What's the minimum size for a QR code to scan reliably?+

As a general guide, at least 2×2 cm (about 0.8×0.8 inches) when printed, though this depends on scanning distance — the further away someone will scan from, the larger it needs to be.

Can I put a logo in the middle of a QR code?+

Yes, a small logo in the centre usually doesn't break scanning since QR codes have built-in error correction — but avoid covering the three corner squares, which are essential for the scanner to find and orient the code.

How to Extract Text from Images (OCR Guide)

OCR (Optical Character Recognition) turns a picture of text — a scanned page, a screenshot, a photo of a whiteboard — into text you can actually copy, search, and edit. Accuracy depends heavily on your source image.

How OCR actually reads an image

OCR software identifies shapes in an image that match letterforms, then reconstructs them into actual text characters. It's essentially pattern recognition — which is why clarity, contrast, and a clean layout in the source image directly determine accuracy.

      What makes an image OCR-friendly

      • High resolution — blurry or low-res text is the single biggest cause of OCR errors.
      • Straight-on angle — a photo taken at a sharp angle distorts letter shapes; shoot as flat-on as possible.
      • Good contrast — dark text on a light background scans far more reliably than low-contrast or coloured backgrounds.
      • Simple layout — single-column plain text is easiest; complex tables or multi-column layouts are more error-prone.

      Always proofread the output

Even accurate OCR occasionally confuses similar characters (like "0" and "O", or "1" and "l") — always skim the extracted text before relying on it for anything important like a legal document or exam notes.

      Frequently asked questions

How accurate is OCR text extraction?+

Modern OCR is highly accurate on clear, high-resolution, well-lit images of standard fonts — accuracy drops noticeably with blurry photos, handwriting, unusual fonts, or low-contrast backgrounds.

      Can OCR read handwriting?+

Basic OCR is built primarily for printed text; handwriting recognition is a related but different technology and tends to be far less reliable, especially with cursive or messy handwriting.

Why did my scanned text come out with errors?+

The most common causes are low image resolution, an angled or skewed photo, poor contrast between text and background, or a complex multi-column layout — retaking the photo straight-on with good lighting usually helps.

How to Create a Strong, Unbreakable Password

Most password advice focuses on the wrong thing. Length matters more than cramming in symbols, and reusing even a strong password across sites is a bigger risk than the password itself being weak.

      Length beats complexity

A long password made of random words (e.g. correct-horse-battery-staple) is dramatically harder to crack by brute force than a short, complex-looking one like P@ss1!, simply because there are exponentially more possible combinations as length increases. Aim for at least 12-16 characters.

What actually makes a password weak

      • Dictionary words, names, or dates tied to you personally (birthdays, pet names).
      • Predictable substitutions like "@" for "a" — password-cracking tools already account for these.
      • Reusing the same password across multiple accounts — one breach then exposes all of them.
      • Short passwords, even with symbols mixed in.

      Managing dozens of unique passwords

Nobody can memorise 50 truly random passwords — that's what a password manager is for. Generate a strong, unique password per account and let a manager store and autofill them, so you only need to remember one strong master password yourself.

      Frequently asked questions

Is a longer password always stronger than a complex one?+

Length is generally the bigger factor — a long passphrase of random words is harder to crack through brute force than a short password stuffed with symbols, because the number of possible combinations grows exponentially with each added character.

Should I use the same strong password on multiple sites?+

No — reusing any password, even a strong one, means a single data breach on one site can expose every account using that same password. Use a unique password for each account.

How do I remember dozens of unique passwords?+

You don't need to — a password manager generates and securely stores a unique password per account, and autofills them, leaving you with just one master password to remember.

How to Bulk Rename Files in Seconds

Renaming files one at a time is fine for two or three files — completely unworkable for a folder of two hundred photos or documents. Bulk renaming with a pattern turns hours of clicking into a few seconds.

      Useful naming patterns

      • Sequential numbering: photo-001.jpg, photo-002.jpg — keeps files in a predictable sort order.
      • Date-based: 2026-07-14_invoice.pdf — sorts chronologically and makes files easy to find later.
      • Find and replace: swap a shared substring across every filename at once — useful for correcting a typo or renaming a client across an entire folder.

Why consistent file names actually matter

Consistent naming makes files sort logically, search reliably, and avoids the classic problem of "file (1).pdf", "file (2).pdf" pile-ups from repeated downloads. It also matters a lot for anything you'll hand off to someone else — a folder of clearly named files needs no explanation.

      Before you bulk rename

Preview the new names before applying them, and keep a backup of the original folder until you're confident the new names are correct — a bulk rename that goes wrong affects every file at once, not just one.

      Frequently asked questions

Can I undo a bulk rename if something goes wrong?+

It depends on the tool — some keep a rename history, but the safest approach is to keep a backup copy of the original files until you've confirmed the new names are correct.

What's a good naming pattern for a large batch of files?+

Sequential numbering (file-001, file-002...) works well for ordered content like scanned pages; a date-based prefix (2026-07-14_...) works better for files you'll want to sort chronologically later.

Can bulk renaming handle different file types in the same folder?+

Most bulk renamers apply your chosen pattern to whatever files you select regardless of type, though it's usually cleaner to rename one file type at a time to avoid confusing results.

How to Turn Typed Text into Handwriting

Converting typed text into a handwriting-style image is more useful than it sounds — from making notes feel personal to producing a consistent "handwritten" look across a whole assignment or letter.

      How it works

A handwriting converter maps your typed characters onto a handwriting-style font, then renders the result onto a page background (often lined or ruled paper) to mimic natural handwriting — the better tools vary letter spacing and slight positioning to avoid a robotic, perfectly uniform look.

      Common uses

      • Assignments or notes that are required to look handwritten.
      • Personal letters or cards with a handwritten feel, typed for speed and legibility.
      • Practising or demonstrating handwriting styles for design or lettering projects.

Picking a style that looks natural

Match the font style to the context — a neat, even cursive style suits formal notes, while a slightly messier casual font suits something meant to feel like a quick personal note. Consistent page background (lined vs plain) also affects how convincing the final result looks.

      Frequently asked questions

Does converted handwriting look exactly like real handwriting?+

It's a close visual approximation using a handwriting-style font rather than an exact replica of anyone's actual handwriting — good tools vary spacing slightly to avoid looking too uniform and robotic.

Can I choose different handwriting styles?+

Most tools offer several font styles, from neat cursive to more casual print-style handwriting, so you can match the tone of what you're writing.

What's this used for besides personal notes?+

It's commonly used for assignments with handwriting requirements, personalised cards or letters, and mockups for lettering or design projects.

How to Generate the Perfect Name or Username

Whether you need a username, a brand name, or a character name for a story, a good name generator gives you a starting shortlist fast — but a few extra checks turn a random suggestion into the right pick.

What makes a name actually good

      • Easy to say and spell — if people have to ask "how do you spell that?", it'll cost you recognition and word-of-mouth.
      • Fits the tone — playful for a casual brand or gamer tag, more restrained for a professional or business name.
      • Short enough to remember — shorter names are generally easier to recall and type, especially for usernames.

      Check availability before you commit

A name generator gives you options, not guarantees — before settling on one, check whether the username or domain is actually available on the platforms that matter to you (social media handle, domain name, app store name), since a great suggestion is only useful if you can actually claim it.

      Generating more targeted results

Narrow generator inputs (style, theme, or keyword) usually produce more usable results than a fully random generate — the more specific the starting point, the less filtering you need to do through the output afterwards.

      Frequently asked questions

Will a generated name definitely be available as a username?+

Not automatically — a name generator gives you creative suggestions, but you still need to check whether that exact name or handle is free on the specific platforms you want to use it on.

What makes a brand or username name memorable?+

Short, easy to spell and pronounce, and consistent with the tone you're going for — names that need explaining or spelling out tend to get forgotten or mistyped.

      Can I use a generated name for a business?+

Yes, but also check it isn't already trademarked or in active use by another business in your space before committing, especially if you plan to register a domain or trademark around it.

How to Use a Scientific Calculator: Functions Explained

A scientific calculator has a lot more buttons than a basic one — and most of them go unused simply because people don't know what they do. Here's a quick tour of the functions you'll actually need.

      Trigonometric functions (sin, cos, tan)

These calculate ratios of a right triangle's sides based on an angle, used heavily in geometry, physics, and engineering. Always check whether your calculator is set to degrees or radians mode first — the same input gives wildly different results depending on which mode is active, and it's the single most common scientific calculator mistake.

      Logarithms and exponents

      • log — base-10 logarithm, common in scales like pH or decibels.
      • ln — natural logarithm (base e), common in calculus and growth/decay problems.
      • x^y or — exponents and powers.

Memory functions (M+, M-, MR, MC)

      • M+ adds the current result to memory.
      • M- subtracts the current result from memory.
      • MR recalls whatever is stored in memory.
      • MC clears memory back to zero.

Memory functions are useful for running totals across multiple calculations without writing intermediate results down on paper.

      Frequently asked questions

Should I use degrees or radians mode?+

Use degrees for most everyday and school-level geometry problems; use radians for calculus and most advanced physics or engineering contexts — check which mode is active before trusting any trig result.

What's the difference between log and ln?+

log is base-10 logarithm, commonly used in scales like pH or decibels; ln is the natural logarithm (base e), which shows up constantly in calculus, compound growth, and decay problems.

What do the memory buttons (M+, MR, MC) do?+

M+ and M- add or subtract the current result to/from a stored memory value, MR recalls that stored value, and MC clears it — useful for keeping a running total across several separate calculations.

How to Calculate Your BMI (and What It Means)

BMI (Body Mass Index) is a quick, widely-used screening number, not a diagnosis. Here's the actual formula, how to read the result, and where BMI genuinely falls short as a health measure.

      The BMI formula

      BMI = weight (kg) ÷ height (m)²

      For example, someone weighing 70kg at a height of 1.75m: 70 ÷ (1.75 × 1.75) = 70 ÷ 3.0625 ≈ 22.9.

      Standard BMI categories

      • Below 18.5: Underweight
      • 18.5 - 24.9: Normal weight
      • 25.0 - 29.9: Overweight
      • 30.0 and above: Obese

      Where BMI falls short

BMI doesn't distinguish between muscle and fat, so muscular athletes are commonly classified as "overweight" despite low body fat. It also doesn't account for age, sex, or where fat is distributed on the body — factors that matter for actual health risk. BMI is best used as a rough screening tool, not a standalone diagnosis of health.

      Frequently asked questions

Is BMI an accurate measure of health?+

It's a useful quick screening number for population-level trends, but it doesn't account for muscle mass, age, sex, or fat distribution — so it can misclassify muscular or older individuals. It shouldn't be treated as a full health assessment on its own.

What is a healthy BMI range?+

18.5 to 24.9 is generally classified as the normal weight range, though healthy ranges can vary somewhat by individual factors like age, sex, and muscle mass.

Why does BMI say athletes are overweight?+

BMI only accounts for total weight relative to height, not the proportion of muscle to fat. Muscle is denser than fat, so muscular individuals often have a higher BMI despite low body fat.

How to Calculate Your Loan EMI (Formula & Example)

Your EMI (Equated Monthly Instalment) isn't just principal divided by months — interest is front-loaded, which is why the same loan amount at different tenures can cost dramatically different amounts in total interest.

      The EMI formula

      EMI = P × r × (1+r)ⁿ ÷ [(1+r)ⁿ − 1]

Where P is the loan principal, r is the monthly interest rate (annual rate ÷ 12 ÷ 100), and n is the total number of monthly instalments.

      Worked example

A ₹10,00,000 loan at 9% annual interest over 5 years (60 months): monthly rate r = 9 ÷ 12 ÷ 100 = 0.0075. Plugging into the formula gives an EMI of roughly ₹20,758 per month — meaning total repayment over 5 years is about ₹12,45,480, of which roughly ₹2,45,480 is interest.

Why a longer tenure means more total interest

A longer tenure lowers your monthly EMI but increases the total interest paid over the life of the loan, since interest accrues for longer. A shorter tenure raises the monthly EMI but reduces total interest — the right balance depends on what monthly payment you can comfortably afford versus minimising total cost.

      Frequently asked questions

Does a longer loan tenure save me money?+

No — a longer tenure lowers your monthly EMI but increases the total interest paid over the life of the loan, since interest keeps accruing for a longer period.

What's the difference between reducing balance and flat interest rates?+

Reducing balance interest is calculated on the outstanding principal, which shrinks with each payment, so the effective cost is lower than a flat rate calculated on the original principal throughout the loan.

Can I pay off a loan early to save on interest?+

In most cases, yes — prepaying reduces the outstanding principal and future interest, though some lenders charge a prepayment penalty, so it's worth checking your loan's specific terms first.

How to Calculate Exact Age in Years, Months & Days

Calculating your age sounds trivial until you try to get the exact number of years, months, and days — varying month lengths and leap years make simple subtraction unreliable.

Why you can't just subtract the birth year

Subtracting birth year from the current year only gives the right answer if today's date falls on or after your birthday this year — otherwise you're a year too high, since your next birthday hasn't happened yet. Getting the months and days right requires accounting for the actual number of days in each month between the two dates, which varies (28-31 days).

      How leap years factor in

Someone born on 29 February only has a "real" birthday once every four years. Age calculators typically treat 28 February or 1 March as the equivalent birthday in non-leap years, though conventions vary slightly by country and context.

Common reasons people need exact age

      • Eligibility checks for age-restricted exams, competitions, or government schemes.
      • Calculating exact age for legal documents or forms.
      • Simple curiosity — knowing your age down to the day.

      Frequently asked questions

Why isn't age just current year minus birth year?+

That simple subtraction only works if today's date is on or after your birthday this year — otherwise the result is a year too high, since your next birthday hasn't occurred yet.

How are leap year birthdays (29 February) handled?+

Most calculators treat 28 February or 1 March as the equivalent birthday in non-leap years, since a 29 February birthday doesn't occur on the calendar every year.

Can an age calculator show my age in days instead of years?+

Yes — most age calculators can show total elapsed time as years, months, and days, or as a single total in days, depending on what's needed.

How to Calculate Percentage: Formulas & Examples

Percentage calculations come up constantly in daily life — discounts, exam scores, salary hikes — but the three common variants (of, change, and difference) are easy to mix up. Here's each one explained.

      Percentage of a number

      Result = (Percentage ÷ 100) × Number

      Example: 20% of 250 = (20 ÷ 100) × 250 = 50.

      Percentage change (increase or decrease)

      % Change = [(New − Old) ÷ Old] × 100

      Example: a salary rising from ₹40,000 to ₹46,000: [(46,000 − 40,000) ÷ 40,000] × 100 = 15% increase. A negative result means a decrease rather than an increase.

      Percentage difference between two values

Unlike percentage change, percentage difference doesn't treat either value as the "original" — it's calculated relative to the average of the two, and is mainly used when comparing two independent measurements rather than a before/after change.

      Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between percentage change and percentage difference?+

Percentage change compares a new value to an original value (useful for before/after comparisons like salary hikes). Percentage difference compares two values relative to their average, used when neither value is clearly the 'starting point'.

      How do I calculate a percentage discount?+

Multiply the original price by the discount percentage divided by 100 to get the discount amount, then subtract that from the original price — e.g. a 20% discount on ₹500 is ₹100 off, making the final price ₹400.

How do I reverse-calculate the original number from a percentage?+

If you know the result and the percentage, divide the result by (percentage ÷ 100) — e.g. if 20% of a number is 50, the original number is 50 ÷ 0.20 = 250.

CTC vs In-Hand Salary: How to Calculate Your Take-Home Pay

Getting a job offer with a CTC of ₹10 lakh doesn't mean ₹83,000 lands in your bank account every month. CTC bundles in a lot more than take-home pay — here's what's actually deducted before you see the money.

      What CTC actually includes

CTC (Cost to Company) is the total amount a company spends on you annually — not just your salary. It typically bundles in basic pay, HRA, allowances, employer's PF contribution, gratuity, and sometimes insurance or other benefits — several of which never actually reach your bank account as cash.

What gets deducted between CTC and in-hand pay

      • Employee PF contribution — typically 12% of basic salary, deducted from your pay (with an equal employer contribution that's part of CTC but not paid to you directly).
      • Professional tax — a small state-level deduction in some Indian states.
      • Income tax (TDS) — deducted based on your applicable tax slab.
      • Employer's PF and gratuity contributions — counted in your CTC, but not part of your monthly take-home pay at all.

      A rough rule of thumb

As a very rough estimate, in-hand monthly pay often works out to somewhere around 70-80% of (CTC ÷ 12) once typical deductions are accounted for — though this varies significantly based on your specific salary structure, tax slab, and benefits included in the offer.

      Frequently asked questions

Why is my in-hand salary lower than CTC divided by 12?+

Because CTC includes components that never reach your bank account as cash — the employer's PF contribution, gratuity, and certain benefits are counted in CTC but aren't part of your monthly take-home pay.

What's the difference between gross salary and CTC?+

Gross salary is your pay before deductions like PF and tax, but after removing employer contributions and benefits. CTC is the full cost to the company, including those employer contributions on top of gross salary.

      Does CTC include income tax?+

No — income tax (TDS) is deducted from your salary based on your applicable tax slab, but it isn't a component of CTC itself, which is a cost figure from the employer's side.

Word Count Guide: Characters, Words & Reading Time

Word and character limits show up everywhere — college essays, Twitter/X posts, meta descriptions, form fields — and knowing the common ones saves you from writing something that gets cut off or rejected.

      Common word and character limits

      • X/Twitter post: 280 characters.
      • Meta description (SEO): roughly 150-160 characters before Google truncates it.
      • LinkedIn post (before "see more"): around 210 characters on most feeds.
      • College application essays: commonly 250-650 words depending on the institution.
      • SMS message: 160 characters per segment for standard GSM text.

      How reading time is estimated

Reading time estimates are usually based on an average adult reading speed of roughly 200-250 words per minute for general text, so a 1,000-word article works out to somewhere around four to five minutes — useful context for blog posts or articles where you want to set reader expectations upfront.

Words vs characters — which limit actually applies

Check carefully which unit a limit is measured in — a "280 character" limit and a "280 word" limit are wildly different amounts of text. Character limits generally include spaces and punctuation unless stated otherwise.

      Frequently asked questions

      How is reading time calculated?+

It's based on an average reading speed, typically around 200-250 words per minute for general text — a 1,000-word piece works out to roughly four to five minutes of estimated reading time.

Does a character limit include spaces?+

Almost always yes, unless a platform specifically states otherwise — spaces and punctuation typically count toward the total character count.

What's the word limit for a meta description?+

Meta descriptions are measured in characters, not words — aim for roughly 150-160 characters, since Google typically truncates anything longer in search results.

How to Summarize Long Text Quickly

A good summary keeps the key facts and drops the padding — but a bad one can accidentally cut information that changes the meaning of the original. Here's what to watch for.

      What summarizing actually does

Summarization identifies the most important sentences or ideas in a longer text and condenses them into a shorter version, dropping supporting detail, examples, and repetition while (ideally) preserving the core facts and conclusions.

Always check a summary against the original

Any summarization — automated or manual — risks dropping a qualifier or exception that changes the meaning of a statement (e.g. "usually true" becoming just "true"). For anything you'll rely on or share further, skim the original once alongside the summary to check nothing important was lost in the compression.

When summarizing helps (and when it doesn't)

Summarizing is most useful for long reports, articles, or documents where you need the gist quickly before deciding whether to read the whole thing. It's less useful for content where precise wording matters throughout — like a legal contract or exam material you need to learn in full.

      Frequently asked questions

Can I trust a summary to be fully accurate?+

Treat any summary — automated or manual — as a starting point rather than a guaranteed accurate stand-in. Important qualifiers or exceptions can get lost in condensing, so check the original for anything you plan to rely on.

What kind of text is best suited to summarizing?+

Long-form content like articles, reports, or meeting notes where you need the key points quickly. Content where exact wording matters throughout — contracts, legal text, exam material — is better read in full.

How short should a summary be?+

It depends on the purpose — a quick gist might be a few sentences, while a study summary might retain more detail. As a rough guide, aim to cut the original length by 70-90% while keeping the core facts intact.

Text Case Guide: UPPERCASE, lowercase, Title Case & More

Text case seems trivial until you're staring at a heading wondering whether a small word like 'and' should be capitalised. Here's a quick reference for each common case style and where it belongs.

      The common case styles

      • Sentence case: only the first word and proper nouns capitalised — standard for regular prose.
      • Title Case: most words capitalised, used for headings and titles.
      • UPPERCASE: all capitals, used sparingly for emphasis or acronyms — overuse reads as shouting.
      • lowercase: no capitals at all, sometimes used stylistically in casual or design contexts.
      • camelCase / PascalCase: no spaces, each word capitalised (except the first in camelCase) — used in programming for variable and function names.

Title Case rules that trip people up

In proper Title Case, short connecting words — "a", "an", "the", "and", "or", "of", "in" — are usually left lowercase unless they're the first or last word of the title. So it's "The Lord of the Rings," not "The Lord Of The Rings."

      Matching case style to context

Use sentence case for body text and most UI labels, Title Case for headings and article titles, and camelCase/PascalCase specifically for code — mixing styles inconsistently within the same document is one of the more common things that makes writing look unpolished.

      Frequently asked questions

Should every word in a title be capitalised?+

No — proper Title Case keeps short connecting words like 'a', 'the', 'and', and 'of' lowercase unless they start or end the title, even though the major words are capitalised.

What's the difference between camelCase and PascalCase?+

Both join words without spaces and capitalise the start of each word, but camelCase leaves the very first letter lowercase (e.g. myVariableName), while PascalCase capitalises it too (e.g. MyVariableName).

Is writing in all caps considered rude?+

In most written communication, yes — all-caps text is widely read as shouting or overly emphatic, so it's best reserved for short emphasis or acronyms rather than full sentences.

How to Track Daily Expenses and Build a Budget

Most people underestimate their spending in a handful of categories — small daily purchases add up faster than the occasional big-ticket item. Tracking expenses for even a month usually reveals exactly where.

      Why tracking expenses works

Budgets fail when they're based on guesswork. Actually logging what you spend — even roughly — for a few weeks reveals patterns you wouldn't have guessed, like how much small recurring purchases (coffee, subscriptions, delivery fees) add up to over a month compared to occasional larger purchases.

      Common expense categories to track

      • Housing (rent/EMI, utilities)
      • Groceries and food
      • Transport
      • Subscriptions and recurring services
      • Entertainment and eating out
      • Savings and investments

A simple budgeting rule to start with

The 50/30/20 rule is a common starting framework: roughly 50% of income toward needs (rent, groceries, utilities), 30% toward wants (entertainment, dining out), and 20% toward savings or debt repayment. It's a rough guide, not a strict formula — adjust the split to fit your actual situation.

      Frequently asked questions

How often should I log expenses?+

Daily or as they happen works best — trying to reconstruct a week or month of spending from memory afterwards almost always undercounts small, easy-to-forget purchases.

      What's the 50/30/20 budgeting rule?+

A rough guideline suggesting about 50% of income toward needs, 30% toward wants, and 20% toward savings or debt repayment — a starting framework to adjust based on your actual circumstances, not a strict rule.

What expenses do people usually underestimate?+

Small, frequent purchases — coffee, food delivery, subscriptions — tend to be underestimated the most, since each individual purchase feels small but adds up significantly over a month.

      About

50+ free tools, built to run entirely in your browser

ZynPix started from a simple frustration: most online tools force you to upload personal files — photos, PDFs, documents — to an unknown server just to compress, convert, or calculate something simple. We wanted something faster and more private.

      What we do

ZynPix has grown from a couple of image utilities into a full platform of 50+ free tools — image compression and resizing, PDF merging, splitting and conversion, GST/EMI/SIP/income tax calculators, CGPA and attendance tools, QR code and invoice generators, and more. Most tools run entirely inside your browser using JavaScript, so files and numbers you enter never need to leave your device to get processed.

      Our principles

      • Privacy first: your files never leave your device wherever browser-based processing is possible.
      • No clutter: every tool does one job, well, with a clear step-by-step guide alongside it.
      • Free forever: no paywalls or hidden limits on core features.

What a ZP- reference ID is, and how to use it

Every time you contact ZynPix support, our team's reply includes a short reference code that looks like ZP-A1B2C3. It's a unique tag for your specific request, tucked into the footer of the email.

      Why it matters

If you ever need to follow up — say, to check on a refund or an escalated bug report — quoting the reference ID lets our team pull up your exact conversation instantly, instead of searching through every email that mentions your name.

      How to check your status

Copy the reference ID exactly as it appears (it always starts with "ZP-"), enter it above along with the email address you used to raise the ticket, and submit the form. Our team gets notified right away and typically replies with an update within 1–2 business days.

Kya mere files upload hoti hain?+

Kya ZynPix sach me free hai?+

Haan, ZynPix ke saare tools bina signup ke, bina kisi hidden charge ke free hain.

      Mera data safe hai kya?+

Ji haan — kyunki processing local browser me hoti hai, aapki files hamare servers tak pahunchti hi nahi, isliye leak hone ka risk bhi nahi hai.

Hum sirf anonymous analytics aur advertising cookies use karte hain (jaise Google Analytics/AdSense). Details ke liye hamari Cookie Policy dekhein.

      1. Browser-Based Processing

Most ZynPix tools process your files directly inside your web browser. Images are compressed, resized, or converted locally using modern browser technologies such as JavaScript and the HTML5 Canvas API. Your files are not uploaded to our servers unless a specific tool clearly states that cloud processing is required.

Since processing happens on your own device, your original files remain under your control throughout the process.

      2. Information We Collect

You can use most ZynPix tools without creating an account or providing personal information.

We may automatically collect limited technical information such as:

However, no method of internet communication or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

      8. File Retention

Files processed locally are not stored on our servers. Once processing is complete and you leave the page, ZynPix does not retain copies of your locally processed files.

      Frequently Asked Questions

Are my files uploaded to a server?

Most tools process files directly in your browser — nothing leaves your device unless a tool explicitly says otherwise.

What happens to my history if I clear my browser data?

Your recent-tools and favourite history is tied to your account, but locally cached data may reset — your saved list itself stays intact.

      Can I cancel Pro anytime?

Yes, Pro is billed monthly with no lock-in — you can cancel anytime from Billing & Plans.

Do you offer student or bulk discounts?

Reach out to support with your college email and we'll see what we can do.

      Still need help?

Our team usually replies within a few hours.
